used to play a lot in high school… somehow i ended up winning the state tech school tournament in my senior year… i enjoy playing on chess.com now… i am not great (rated around 1050-1100 online) but i do enjoy a bit of stra-teeg-ery and tactics
if anyone plays online look me up on chess.com jmpaul320
I used to carry a small magnetic travel set in my ruck sack when I was in the Army. That little set sure got played a lot, it also traveled a lot. Probably a lot more than most people ever will. It’s been a long time since I played so I’m sure I’m not up to that level of playing, but I might check it out just to see how rusty I am.
Awesome, another chess player. I think I am Leapvaun there or something. It’s been about a year since I’ve been logged in though. Maybe sometime over the next few days we’ll find time to play.
I was beating some people on yahoo and I realized that when these kids started to lose they would cheat and leave the table ,then return hoping you'd left so they could win by default after x amount of time .
i was appalled
if you didn't leave they'd drag out the game and keep leaving the table ...hoping you'd quit ..anything for stupid points they didn't deserve
yeah its really annoying people do that to me online all the time… i do prefer playing in real life, but i only know one or two people who actually play well enough to make it enjoyable… so im stuck with the internet for now…. unless anyone here wants to play a game or two
there is an element about playing chess with someone you know well that i really enjoy…. knowing their personality and who they are and watching how they decide to form positions is part of the fun experience for me
Sorry for digging up this old thread, but I was in love with chess since about 6 months ago when I didn’t even know about the rules at all lol.
After learning some of the basic things (openings, simple end game tactics…) in a few months I was getting a little better, but still a noob lol.
I seldom played against the other players but most of the time I just played against the engine in Chess.com. I know a lot of good players do not encourage people to play against the computer too much but you know, I am impatient and always want a quick game (be it winning or losing) lol.
Although I am still a weak player but I love to watch and read everything about chess, and not to mention this interesting upcoming movie Pawn Sacrifice, which is about the bio of Bobby Fischer.
