Anyone seen or own this SK98 type light from DX?

I think it looks better than the SK98 and the tailcap is far more user friendly and tail standable. Seems a little pricey at $16 but it does include a crapfire cell and an average single cell universal charger. Maybe they could sell just the light instead.

well, I have its close cousin - i think they call it a “new c56”.

I modded mine to xml and something >2A. I used it a lot for awhile, but the tail switch was the achilles heel - and it is retained by pressed?glued?cast? plastic :frowning:

I tore it out and haven’t fixed it. That made me swear off lights w/o removable switch.

I like the tailcap much more than the sk68/98

yeah… i just got them last week… it’s a nice little light, believe it or not, i think mine pulled over 3.5 Amp
it has a nice flood but zoom is sucks as it cast a very big rectangle square, so it won’t throw far.
as matter of fact, i liked it so much i decided to order 2 more for gifts.
it is brighter than most zoomies that i have, including the new Aleto 26650 zoomie, it’s on par on flood brightness to UF T20 and i paid $9 here

nice! thanks for the link

is the tail switch removable? I put some time into modifying my c56, so I might buy one of these just to rob parts.

not really…can’t really remove it without damaging it :frowning:

oh well, thanks

Why do they have to do that crap? I'm sure it's just pressed in and since the switch is bad anyway I'd just force it out from behind if it was mine. Nothing to lose either way. ;)

it’s not pressed in, i tried to push it out with 2 thumbs and it won’t budge, maybe it’s glued?

Try drilling a couple of retaining ring style holes in the plastic disk and using your usual retaining ring tool(s).

That seller has some nice stuff and good prices. It also has some lights that I have not seen before.

You can also screw a couple of small self tapping screws into the plastic and pull the pressed in retaining ring out.

and why would i want to mess up a perfectly fine a little nice light?
