Do you have a model in mind? Anyway, the answer is no. The convoys are nice, but are not the same as Roche. Roche’s are generally heavier built and are very particular about battery dimensions. Even the models that outwardly look similar are designed totally differently once you start taking them apart. Convoys have screw in pills whereas Roche’s have integrated pills.
well that was my opinion,i have Roche F22 and Roche M170 overall is good while Convoy is good buy for anyone with tight budget while Solarforce is specialize for P60 drop in even thought they now have several MT G2 light
I’ve been meaning to put together a little review on it. Yes, it looks like the pill is integral. Under there somewhere is a Nanjg (complete with the low-mode PWM and occasional hi-flicker that goes with them) but with a 20mm contact board soldered atop the existing spring and a new contact spring going into the tube. I would have preferred a $30 light come with a driver that didn’t flicker or whine, but the fit and finish kinda make up for it.
Cost-to-output wise, Convoy always seems to be better off.
But that's pretty much where it ends for me.
I've always liked the build quality of Roche better, maybe the bigger price tag translates to better machining or something. But Roche lights never seem to look cheap.
Convoys make great hosts because that's pretty much what the company does, just make a host that can fit an existing driver and emitter, and stick em together. Becomes quite limited in the long run. Roche seems to make, or gets someone else to make, custom drivers and UIs, with great attention to detail and square threads. Not so much the F12 or F8, but lights like the F22 and M170 really show the difference.
Convoy stepped it up with the L4, so we'll have to see in future.
