I love the 502b design even more so than the sf l2. I had an ultrafire 502b host that I bought from manafont but I was less than impressed with the tailcap threads. Fancyflashlights has a ha-lll ultrafire for a decent price but if the threads are junk I’d rather stick to solarforce. Thread quality is my #1 pet peave. A light could put out a gillion lumens and be cheaper than dirt but if the thread’s aren’t crisp and clean, I’ll pass it up. Anyone tried the ultrafire 502b ha-lll?
Have you tried lightly polishing up the threads? I’ve done it before to an old ultrafire. Polished, cleaned it up and applied some lube and it was pretty smooth.
I ended up selling it. I’d like to get another if there are any out there that have better threading.
I'm not a fan of the 502b but FF/CNQG generally carry top quality stuff. If Ric carries it it is likely a genuine Ultrafire torch and therefore should be better than the clones of clones that counterfeit the Ultrafire name. If the ano is true HAIII then it's probably worth the risk, especially for a 502b enthusiast. ;)
Just looking at this pic from the site I'd have to say the threads and overall quality appear much higher than the normal 502b you find elsewhere.
Best threads can be found on the L2P. L2T threads feel rough compared to those..
Yeah, solarforce kind of ruins you for other hosts. LOL
The Citipower X5 (WF-502b clones) had the best quality threads of all the 502s I have come across. I wouldn’t say they were anything special but overall quality was definitely higher than the other ones. They are found on EBay.
