Are we getting too notorious?

Hi, I like sell flashlight. I no not what kind, but I like sell it. $.0001 and free shipping. You want?

I know that is mean, but down deep, I am a mean person and I enjoy it.

It seems like we are overwhelmed lately with 2 bit dealers operating out of their one room shack and drop shipping everything, carrying absolutely no inventory themselves. Free stuff, pay just the shipping, etc. What the heck is going on and why are we encouraging it? Am I encouraging it too? Are we all so greedy for this stuff that we encourage these clowns coming around? (Yes)... More and more every day.

Go ahead, rip me a new one, I'm ready.

I’m glad I ain’t the only one seeing it

Thanks OL, and yes these guys are VERY annoying!

Seriously now, I think the forum need a little more moderating, it has turned into a free-for-all flea market.

Yes, but isn't it our own doing? We all have jumped on the GB bandwagon like crazy and I mean, I'm just as at fault as anyone. I just think we are victims of our own negativity and our own doing.

No?

Yeah…I think if someone “seller” pops in and sells something NOT in the dealers section…DOINK…booted

Tired of the riff raff coming in here flooding us with this and that’s and junk…inexpensive Chinese stuff is ok, but not get inundated by cheap Chinese crap…

GB is one thing, seeking them out and trying to get the best deal but only if purchased in bulk is one thing, having them jump in and try to sell the crap noone else is buying is another

What is the deal with the Aff and non-Aff links?

I think we need to…

A. Crack down with more new seller guidelines and enforce them.
B. Design a process for established members to air grievances rather than on every which thread.
C. Establish secret forums whereby THESE SORTS OF ISSUES can be discussed away from the public’s eyes.

Change is always scary, but sometimes it can legitimately be for the better. And not much would need to be added, just a little.

If you use an aff link, the person who posted the link gets a few cents or something like that for every click on their link. Non aff link, they get nothing. Those pennies add up.

it’s not just retailers, there are forever plenty of fulltime shillers as well. i would prefer a way to block a user’s threads and posts from showing, but sb has spoken out against this before

a way to filter new posts to specific forums might help too

Food for thought... What if posts in the commercial sellers section somehow didn't show up on the main page? Or perhaps limit the number/type of spammy threads (e.g., "You like this light? I sell to you for 2 cents!") per week for sellers. Such changes would dramatically cut down on the clutter.

I haven't been a blf member that long, but in just a few months I've noticed a huge surge in the aforementioned threads. It's really starting to get outta hand, imho. The more reputable dealers are getting drowned out by the noise on this forum lately.

That is a great idea. Keep the shilling off the main page, who wants to check on the latest cheap lights can go to the commercial sellers corner.

Nothing wrong with a good group buy.

Or did you mean ‘Gear Beast’

I’m not not feeling the BLF love lately.

Lately 95% of the site seems to be either Group Buy, after Group Buy, after Group Buy; or spam/shilling by the barrage of new Chinese sellers.

The endless anger in that thread about fake/real Japan KeepPower batteries… it’s like being on CPF and seeing DM51 abuse the members for his own entertainment. If there’s an actual flashlight review somewhere, you have to dig in a few pages past all the “like us on Facebook, we sell you 5000 lumen Flashlight for 2-dollar” nonsense.

I am guilty as charged. The lure of free stuff wakes me in the middle of the night. The thoughts of free Junk can cause me to take off work and drive miles. I am a hoarder of free junk!

OL, its a mental disease!!! Guess thats why we are all members of BLF??

Theres a “secret forum” already

+1

Not that I’m against group buys, but the atmosphere of BLF change from what it was 2 years ago when I joined.

Members used to be compassionate and genuine. That has now faded away and threads are filled with raw and impulsive feelings.

I like a good deal if it comes by, it would be a pity if deals are banned from the recent posts page. They are gone from that page in a wink if no one replies, so there's enough people interested apparently. I also like the forum to be as moderation-free as possible, it makes blf what it is.

Actually, BLF is getting more and more interesting every day, with so many people contributing high quality stuff. I have the impression that at the moment BLF is where the flashlight manufacturers should look for their future products (I think they do).

I am still able to find the gem-threads among the junk.

About the commercial sellers issue: how about having commercial sellers limit their offers to one thread? Illumination Supply and RMM already do this with some success, and I feel it makes it easier to post and discuss deals, not to mention it removing a lot of clutter from the front page.

I can feel it too, but I think that it is part of blf and it somehow belongs here. Maybe the deals should be more organised.

What about creating an extra box with about ten rows of latest posts in seller categories on the bottom of the list of threads on main page?

I think it is time for a group hug! So I sell to you super power 60lumen new Cree Q5 high power only use 3aaa for long light time with low price and no ship charge! How many you need we want you to have!Make good deal to you at BLF.XOXOXO!
