I really like the tint. I would describe it as White, but at the neutral end of the White scale. The XP-G in my Solarforce L2M is at the cool end of white, more like 6500K.
I will try some beamshot comparisons tonight.
Yeah I think my favorite tints are 5000-5500k. Warmer tints look too yellow or orange to me, and cooler tints can be a bit hard on the eyes and not great at colour rendering.
Here’s a couple of beamshots. The output level on the wizard pro is different in the 2 shots to try and see which showed the tint best.
Apologies for the phone camera pics.
From left to right: Wizard pro wide, Olight S10 Ti, Olight S10 with XM-L2 cool white emitter swap, Zebralight sc52
I know it can be hard to judge tint from a picture but the tint looks great from those shots.
Entertain another question, if you would: how’s the consistency of the tint across the beam? The “Cree rainbow” (kreisl’s term) effect can be rather noticeable with XM-L/2 lights using reflectors. I’ve noticed that TIR lights can do better in this regard than reflector lights, just wanted to confirm that that was the case with the Wizard. Thanks!
Very nice, Matt! I've found that the 5500 tint of the LEDs that Armytek uses is a perfect white with no green, blue, purple, or pink tinges. Your pics show it perfectly. I find it to be the best white you can get.
I know what you mean about the different colours seen in a beam from a light using a reflector. I’m happy to say that the perfect white tint of the Wizard pro is consistent throughout the entire beam
@ JohnnyMac, your right about the nice white tint. Armytek must be one of the few who manage to get this just right.
Johnny - do you notice any green shift at lower levels?
I find the white tint of mine to be one of the best of all my lights but only at the two brightest settings. At the lower levels there is definitely a shift toward green. It is quite clear for instance when doing side by side comparisons with the XTAR UL1 for example (which also has a very nice tint btw).
I think this is a natural by-product of a current controlled driver and it isn't something that annoys me unduly but it is worth noting. Wondering if anyone else has observed this?
Just an update on the Wizard Pro’s. This was posted by Armytek over on cpfm.
So the current revised Wizards pro’s like my light are still v1, but with the following updates:
“The Wizard headlamps you order are only the first version at this time. All bugs are fixed and some changes are made in the temperature indication:
when it increases to +60°C, the color LED shows the warning level once a second.
After +70°C the main LED flashes 5 times. After +75°C the light output decreases to Main4 mode (550lm).
Critical level >+80°C is color indicated twice a second and light output decreases to Firefly2 mode.
The new UI will be in version 1.5 which is being prepared for production.
As I mentioned before you will be the first to know about this!”
