Astrolux EA01s charging query.

I’ve just received two Astrolux EA01s flashlights and I’ve noticed a ‘quirk’ with both lights, and unfortunately the manual just has Anduril instructions and no mention of charging (or which way round the battery goes for that matter)

Anyway, when I first plug the flashlight in the LED lights up green on the right hand side of the circle (the side nearest the “s” of the EA01S lettering) and doesn’t go into charging mode. However, if I disconnect the cable and reattach the LED lights up red on the left side and charges, eventually turning green.

Does anyone know why this is happening and it doesn’t start charging at the first time of asking? The only thing I can think of is that initially I have the cable connected and then turn the power on at the mains socket, whereas when I disconnect and reattach I just pull the cable out from the flashlight and put it back in.

I’m pretty sure it’s user error rather than a fault as it happens with both, but I’m just not sure why?

I have one. When the battery is near full charge it may or may not decide to charge. Under 4.18 it always starts charging. When fully charged then plugged back in an hour later after the voltage has dropped a little chargers may or may not charge.

On my EA01s charging is straightforward. I did try it with Samsung and Huawei bricks 5v - 12v. None of them is doing what you described. Same on the FT02s, that is from the same generation.
You should try diffrent cables as well. Might be possible that your battery is almost full, and charging is not starting right away?

Thanks for the replies guys. I think it’s likely just a case of the batteries having a lot of charge already, I’ll keep an eye on it. I’ve tried different cables and got the same result.

I have another query and it’s loosely related so thought I’d just add it in rather than starting a new thread.

Is there a quick way to know when the battery is running out, such as the LED changing colour like other flashlights, or is it just a case of checking using the Anduril Batt Check function or waiting for the light to go out?

It will dim then do a battery check.

Thanks, am I right in thinking that I should be looking at charging when it drops to around 3V? I assume there’s no harm regularly ‘topping up’?

I would recharge at about 3.5 volts. While 3 is ok once in a while, I wouldn’t make a habit of it. No harm in topping off. Wear is considered a complete charge. 2 one half charges equals 1 full charge.

Cool, thanks.

All you do in this case is 2 clicks for high or turbo and charging will start

Great, thanks for the tip.
