So I have decided on this budget throw light .I want the brightest and furthest throw possible. I was just about to order and now it gives the option of 4300lm or 2400lm and then the ‘k’ cool or neutral. Please can someone help with that . As I said I just want brightest furthest throw . would that make the 4300 the better choice then? Many thanks
There is always a tradeoff, more lumens do not automatically result in more/farther throw.
The FT03 might do more Lm, but it will throw less far since it has a larger LED so it will give more flood than for instance the Convoy L21A with CULPM1
That one uses an Osram LED with a smaller LED (die) which gives more throw.
Mine is blue with steel bezel, but yes, that’s the right one.
Where are you located? I’m not really using mine and could part with it including holster. Not much less expensive, but shipping would be faster if EU or GB.
Maybe. ANSI requires 0.25 lx at the given distance (about moonlight). I doubt anyone can actually see that. Divide those numbers by 3 to get a more realistic figure.
Keep in mind, some of the numbers are for marketing purposes only. 875 meters is over half a mile. Since you cant see that far, its of little use if the light reaches that far. You would also need to use binoculars to fully appreciate that amount of throw. As humans and as electronic geeks, we tend to want more so 875 meters is better than 500 meters and 4000 lumens is better than 2000 lumens. Its the same thing going on with cameras and megapixels right now. Manufacturers know if they keep increasing the megapixels with every new model they will sell more cameras. Its only the quantitative data that ends up in the spec sheets. Its hard to prove one reflector is better then the other.
