Astrolux Mf04 just bought does not work.

Just bought an Astrolux Mf04 from banggood. When I put in the batteries. The button lights up green. I click the button to go through the cycles. But on the 4th click it just turns straight off. And the button looses its color. And theres no way to get the flashlight to turn back on or to have the button light up back green. Only way I can get it to work again is by twisting off the tail cap. And removing the batteries and putting them back in. Cannot get turbo mode or blinkies to work either. Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? Am using 4 18650 Nuon batteries with 2600 mAh.

I have never heard of those batteries before. There’s a chance they might just be really bad and the MF04 is cutting power because the voltage of the batteries is sagging too much and the flashlight thinks the voltage is too low and triggers low voltage protection. I’d recommend charging the batteries fully then trying again.

Nuon is batteries plus store brand. They’re barely better than ultrafire batteries. Anyway what’s happening is you’re triggering the protection circuit on the cells.

Get new, good batteries. I’m on mobile or I’d post some links, hopefully someone else can chime in with some.

Thank you for the responses. So far very horrible experience with this flashlight. I even tried some Samsungs 25r that I picked up at my local smoke shop. Apparently these batteries are also used in vapes and e cigs. But they would not fit. Seemed too short. Only 2 fitted. Other 2 spots the springs didnt come out far enough. Reason I used the Nuons. They were slightly longer and buttontops. Any ideas of what kind of batteries to use. Or probably should need to replace the battery holder as well first.

+1 get some good batteries. If you’re stateside USA, 18650batterystore.com, illumn or if you’re in EU, Nkon has deals on batteries. You’ll need button top 18650 with at least 10 A discharge capability. If you can’t get button tops, you can do flat tops and solder blob the tops, but button tops are the way to go.

Did you charge the batteries before putting them in? If you have a VOM try checking what voltage they’re at after a full charge.
Always a bummer to wait weeks and weeks and get a dud!

edit: embarrassing confession, I just got an IF25A and dutifully took off the battery protection sticker and it acted just like your light, thought I got a dud.
Battery shipped at a little over 2.9V so no-go until charged. All is good now!

You could change the battery holder but that would still give you the same issue as it takes button top cells.

The light requires button tops even on sales page it indicates that as a requirement, sounds like the cells you used were protected cells which caused limit the current draw. Look for button top versions 30Q’s or VTC6’s they will work for the light perfectly.

Thank You. Found some Samsungs 30q 18650 3000 mAh 15A button tops. I was worried for a minute that the light didnt work.

Illumn has 30q button tops in stock right now .Ships out of the Bay area and they ship out fast. Very reputable and all their batteries are genuine. Here is a link Samsung 30q 18650 button top
