Aurora C6 build, a nice little light. (Pic heavy)

I did this little custom build a few months ago, has been a great light. Small and very bright. Figured I’d share pictures of the build.

It comprises of an Aurora C6 host, XM-L T6 and a Kaidomain 2280mA driver.

To start we have all our parts.

Our lovely host.

Oh oh, star is too big. Well, I want the big star, so we’re gonna have to do something about this.

Right tool for the wrong job or wrong tool for the right job? Either way…

HA! Success.

Perfect Fit.

Now lets set some modes.

Check. Mate.

And can’t forget leads.

Ready to roll…

Need good thermal transfer for our star, and we don’t want er movin. So only the best.

Leads through, and star stuck.

Wires soldered down and pill screwed in, looking good.

Workin great!! Doesn’t even get too hot.

I keep this light in my car now, it’s great for the size. Solid little bugger.

Cheers!

Nice review. It looks like you filled the pill up with arctic silver for the star to fit on? Is this correct? Love your soldering on the driver.

Actually, I believe he ground off the raised lip to make the whole pill flush with the recessed 16mm section and just used the AS to secure it.

Nice little mod you did there! I love seeing older lights updated to greatness.

Exactly what I did, ended up being perfectly the right height for the reflector too.

Cheers

Silly me. That would be called thinking outside the circle. Well done.
