[Available again! - BLF special edition light] new Sofirn AAA twisty high CRI 5mm LED

A new twist in the development of this light. I have been in contact with Barry about this, who in the meantime started working for Sofirn, and after some information exchange between us, and him some consultation with Sofirn engineers and some calculations, they are willing to make this light with Yuji leds.

These are the specs that I communicated to him:

1x AAA battery

one mode

Yuji 5mm led (they come in two colour temperatures, 3200K and 5600K,

both very good leds, I suggest to make both options)

low output is fine, these Yuji leds run at 20mA and 8 lumen

simple twisty switch on/off

very small, like the E01 (I think the Boney is too fat)

still a well-looking design would be nice

cheap to buy (the Boney is under 5 dollar shipped, so 6 dollar max I

guess)

always works!!!

absolutely bomb-proof (i.e. the E01 has the driver filled up with glue)

The last two specs are the most important, people will buy this light

for in their pocket, their handbag but also as the ultimate backup

light: small, bomb-proof and no matter what it always works. There are

video’s of torturing the E01 in all possible ways and it keeps working,

that kind of light.

It looks like they are starting with it, that 6 dollar will indeed will be met as the selling price, that both colour temperatures will be made, they are making it as tough as possible and will proof that with some video’ed torture.

In the event that this will stop further effort to work with Fenix, perhaps the interest list of the OP needs adapting (people will drop out and people will want to get in), but it is up to Stef if he wants his thread to go that direction. Sofirn is going to see if a discount for list members will be possible but are at least very much interested how many people are in for the 6 dollar Sofirn AAA twisty with Yuji led.
