Battery & temperatures

Hello folks , I keep my 18650’s ,14500’s & eneloops in my shed/workshop , the temperatures here at the moment is some where between 0*c –5*c daytime & dipping to –2*c at night ,
Is this cold bad for my battery’s ? Would they be better off indoors?

Thanks, but I’m not discharging or charging , they’re just stored in there because my missus don’t want them in the house , they get used regularly so it’s not long time storage.

The cold isn’t bad, typically cold helps extend their lifespan in storage.
The problem is the large fluctuations in temperature and humidity every single day that is probably bad for them.

The humidity is about 80% ,
So I’m thinking its probly best to bring them in so the temperature & humidity will be fairly stable = around 20*c & humidity 30–40.

Yeah that’s what I would do.
Just keep them in a dark cool cabinet or something.
Like with potatoes :stuck_out_tongue:

Keep them in the cold,
I wouldn’t worry about the humidity either - it’s relative and at this temperature air cannot hold much humidity, but you can put them in some airtight container with rise/silica gel/cat litter/wahtever to be extra safe.
Also bringing them in warm environment and leaving them in such container for several hours before use will prevent any condensation.

+1 on this. Condensation will only likely be a problem bringing cold cells from outside into your warm house. Either bring them inside in sealed container (tuppaware etc) or just swap them into a light while outside, most quality lights are airtight.

Thanks everyone, for the answers. :+1:
