Beam Shots of My Big Flashlights

Its not as floody as the SRK but it is a far better thrower. It is also easy to carry around that’s why its a favorite among many BLF members including me.

Maybe I have a bad SRK or a good Terminator or both, but my Terminator has more flood than my SRK. If I don’t concentrate on the bright hot spot and focus on the total amount of light out front of me, the Terminator wins and it’s not that close. With the SRK, I really notice the flood because the hotspot is not as defined making the light seem like almost complete flood.

That could be the case because with the many manufacturers of copies of clones of the SRK out there, we cannot be certain that all the SRKs have the same performance. Maybe it just happened that I got an SRK with a more defined hotspot.

+1 I’m one of them, actually.

I was finally able to get beam shots of my big lights at 115 meters.

I had to finish my report for tomorrow and I knew I had to go home late so I brought my lights to my office so that I can get beam shots when I’m done with my report.

Here’s the map of the site where my office is located. From my window to the treeline is about 115 meters per Google Earth:

Here’s the view of the treeline from my window taken at about 3:00 in the afternoon:

Here’s a closer view of the treeline. I’m using this zoom settings for the beam shots:

Here’s the view of the treeline from my window taken at about 7:30 in the evening. Too bad there are street lights in front of the treeline and the area is not completely dark:

Here’s a closer view. I’m using this as control:

Now the Beam Shots. MagLight 4D modified to 6x XR-E Q5. Hardly seen at 115 meters:

UltraFire UF-502B (XM-L T6):

UltraFire UF-C8 (XM-L T6):

Ultrafire UF-8099 FTT (XR-E Q5):

4Sevens Maelstrom X-10 (XM-L T6):

JetBeam BC40 (XM-L T6):

SupBeam K40 (XM-L U2). Much stronger than the BC40:

Sky Ray King (3x XM-L T6):

Black Shadow Terminator (4x XM-L U2):

TrustFire X100 (7x XM-L T6):

The K40 leaves the BC40 behind in throw. The UF-8099 is even closer though it only powered by an XR-E Q5.

The Terminator showed its true power this time. It clearly out throws the X100 hence is more effective in these distances though the X100 remained the king in spill.

It looks like the terminator out throws the K40. What’s up with that?

I had the K40 and I’m looking at picking up a terminator and if this is even close to what it can do I will be purchasing sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the beam shots!

You’re welcome lintonindy. I think its because of the color temp of their lights. The K40’s beam is cooler and the BST is neutral. The way I saw it last night, the K40 throws farther that the BST.
