Beamshots /// 31 lights........

I didn’t know where this should go as far as the category , I have several different cell type lights in this but “off topic chatter” didn’t seem like the place to put it either.

Anyhow if it needs to be moved then that’s ok too but for now here is what I got.
I just decided to grab a few of my lights and go out to do beam shots last night , mainly out of boredom. I grabbed another then another and thought , well heck may a well get whatever has a charged cell in it that I don’t have to dig around for or go get out of the vehicles.
I had 31 lights with cells charged and ready to go , not including the ones in the vehicles , boat , shop , put away for future use and that sort of thing.
I ended up with the 31 I took beamshots of , so about half my light collection I am guessing I took shots of last night.
I put all the shots together in a slide show so it would not take up 3 or more pages and just made it into a video slide show that is about 3 minutes and 40 seconds long. The lights that are modded are noted as such in the caption in each slide and if they are not noted as modded then they are as they came from the factory.
Feel free to ask about any of the light mods here or in a PM if you want to know anything about any of them. There is nothing out of the ordinary , or really special as far as the mods go though , other than a couple that I had to make a part or 2 for.

Heres the slide show , the yardages are noted as well as what light in each photo and the front of the barn is the 160 yard mark at that distance , the tree on the left back corner of the barn is at 186 yards.

EDIT: Had to add these beamshots from the Maxtoch 2X and M24 from 946 yards away!!!

Great pics David.

Good to see a variety of lights side by side - from the wee EDCs through to the Maxtoch throwers. Some of the lights had good CRI too - quite faithful colour rendition even in stock form.

Well done - useful reference.

Very cool slide show and variety!

Thanks for taking the time. :+1:

The Nuge . :+1:

Well done robo. Very nicely done.

Thanks for sharing that :+1:

nice!

Just look how that little X5 is playing ball!

Sweet. Loved the Maxtoch Wall E, and definitely the Coast HX5. I’m a sucker for flood :stuck_out_tongue:
Not too sure if they’re flood lights or not, but they sure do light up a wall of light. Especially that coast. That warm tint looks nice. All I see is green (natural colors). Not that washed/white out look.

Thanks guys,

I have my favorites out of the lights for sure , but I wont express those as I just did the beams for reference for anyone who might be able to use them for anything to help if they wanted to mod (or get a stock light that hasn’t been modded , but I only have a limited number of those now)

The X5 and the little coast lights both throw light on out there for small lights (the coast is smaller than the X5 even) , although it did take some working on the get the coast to do so.
The little Coast is making 710 lumens now thanks to Dale (DBCustoms) doing that for me a year or a little over ago. (it was just before I started modding myself) and it will throw decent light out to around 125 to 150 yards.

Just had to add these shots I took tonight with the Maxtoch 2X (2 of them) and one of my 2 Maxtoch M24’s.
The first 2X is just as it came from the factory straight out of the box , the second one is the prototype I got when we were designing the light for final production. The prototype has the same 4.5 amp driver as the factory but I added a dedomed U4 1C and tweaked the focus just a bit on it.
The M24 I put the same 4.5 amp driver as the new 2X has (and also the new M24) and a dedomed U4 1C emitter and tweaked the focus a little on it.

These shots were taken at 946 yards to the beige colored oil tank in the center of pictures and with a full moon to boot and clear skies, so there was a lot of ambient light. Without the moonlight I think these woulda been even better shots.

Nice work David, good variety and a good idea to keep em relevant in their distances.

I have trouble with the red text on the lit green grass, maybe if the text were at the top of the picture where it’s always dark and use white instead of red? Don’t know, might just be me and my tired blown out eyes. (accidentally happened to be looking at the face of my Meteor M43 last night, expecting it to come on in moon… last mode memory made it come on in Turbo! Holy Schmoly! lol) As blinding as it was it turned out the cells were down to 3.8V, glad they weren’t fresh charged or I’d probably still be seeing purple this morning…

Next time you get bored maybe you can come over and shoot all 160+ of mine, they need dusting off and the shelves need to be cleaned.

Thanks Dale.

Well I MIGHT do the beamshots for you on all the lights but, the cleaning and dusting is out of the question!!!

I did notice after I got everything done the red text was hard to see , yellow or white either one next time I do believe.

As far as the Meteor and having it even remotely pointed at your head ……….all I can say there is DUH , LOLLLLLLLL

When using a light I usually make sure it’s in low when I turn it off. I’ve got a ramping firmware in the Meteor courtesy of TK and it’s easy enough to ramp it down then turn it off so low is in the memory. Of course, she wrote it so it’s easy to simply click it on and hold it for it to come on in low. I was Pretty Sure this one had that firmware, but turned it on to double check. BAM! (I had forgotten showing it to preacher when he came to pick up the Shooter 2X!) And yes, schoolgirl giggles. This one and my TR-J20 seem to do that to virtually everybody that sees em.

I have done the same thing a couple of times thinking a light was left on low or moon mode.
I learned my lesson and now I never turn on any of my lights without pointing them down or away when I hit the switch.
Kind of treat them like a gun , always down range and make sure there is no one near the direction I am pointing the light when the switch is pushed.

David, that trustfire triple is a TR-3T6?

Very impressive beam, do you modded the current in driver too?

When my died 3t6 fried, I put directly those 3 leed in series in 3 batteries, that thing tuned in a beast of lumens (and heat too  ) and when I wanted low output I set with 2 batteries.

Yes it is the TR-3T6 , dedomed XM-L2 LED’s and a slight current bump on the stock driver with only 2 cells.
