I’m planning to build a bright multi-color light (1 or 2 leds for each color of red, green blue). What are the best leds for this purpose currently - and where can I get them?

There are no more powerful colored leds in that size, if you have enough space you could use Phlatlight pt-54. I have several of them, they are fantastic but need good cooling because 8A…
You also have luminus leds as an option!

I purchased a bunch of different colored luxeon rebel emitters on 20mm MCPCBs from this website that I randomly stumbled across one day: Luxeon Rebel ES
I procured some Convoy C8 hosts, matching tailcap gaskets, and made myself a set for fun.
From left to right: Royal Blue, Lime, Amber, and Deep Red.
That deep red “C8” is a spy! 
I found an interesting New LED emitter, it should fit medium and large hosts

and it is power hungry
Interesting find, but for the intended purpose a bit too much.
But if plan to build the Green Lantern I’ll surely consider this LED 
Nice line-up! Especially the PC-lime C8 should have a great output, I measured mine at 750 lumen! (see 4 emitters tested: Cree XP-E2, JR 3535, small die Nichia 219B, Luxeon Rebel lime colour )
Btw, I have quite a number of Rebel Sinkpads (so DTP) leftover, I could send you some?
