Need some retail therapy after selling the bike tonight (bye bye Blackbird). I was thinking about a light with more flood and had the Astrolux MF01 on my radar. Its currently on offer at $69 on BG. I assume XP-G3 will give the most output, but is there any reason to go for the 219C?
Is there anything else that I should conciser in the sub $70 price bracket?
219C:
Much better color rendition, and much better beam. Basically, the 219C version is plain better, especially since the brightness difference isn’t actually noticeable in normal use.
And yes, the MF01 is probably the best flooder in the 70$US bracket.
Was ready to order from BangGood, but their reply to an outstanding order has, lets say, annoyed me. I’ll avoid a rant and simply look for an alternative supplier or flashlight.
If you’re looking for a flood with some good CRI then the MF01 is at the best price it’s ever been offered for. There is an update in the works for that light which explains the heavy discount to move out existing inventory.
If you want crazy output and are willing to settle for 70.2 levels of CRI the Haikelite MT03TA is also on clearance it appears. Yesterday the BGLF2 code brought the Haikelite down to $83.30 but today Fin got an even better code down to $80.89 F7BG
I bought an MT03TA in February and I’ve been very happy with the light. The output is truly amazing and I love that I now have a pocket able light with nearly Acebeam X80 output with less than 1/3 the cost of the X80.
That being said, the 219C MF01 has very nice CRI and I was also going to jump onto the $69 flash sale until I found out about the reboot. I figured that considering Astrolux is a BG house brand and is only sold through their website, when they reach the point where they really need to get rid of something they’re going to have to REALLY get rid of it! :money_mouth_face: … If I’m wrong it just means I’ll have to wait until the reboot comes out at the group buy price (which by the way was only like $4.00 more than this best ever flash sale clearance price)
Definitely recommend the 219C version. I have both and the tint and CRI of the XPG version is very unappealing to me. I love the MF01 form factor, but there is a drawback if you plan on modding the current version. They are seriously thread locked. I've made several attempts to open mine with no success. I'm convinced mine are unopenable unless I'm willing to scratch and gouge them up.
The MT03 is moddable. It's much bulky and heavier. Beam is pure flood. The MF01 has a beautiful beam with a much throw compared to the MT03.
