Im thinking about buying my first reylight but i want to know where to buy the trits and what size i need before i pull the trigger. Any advice would be appreciated
I hear good things about mixglo, though I’ve never personally bought from them.
For additional info, here’s a page with parts and tools used.

There are a couple of sellers on AliExpress I can see with a UK IP address, perhaps availability varies by country.
I stopped carrying lights with tritium vials after measuring the bremsstrahlung radiation… Don’t fancy that in my pocket…
How high was it?
Tritium only gives off beta radiation (electrons). It’s the weakest of all beta emitters, it cannot even go through a sheet of paper - or the dead skin cells on your body.
It’s complete harmless unless perhaps you chew on and swallow a vial.
Apparently you shouldn’t snort it either ![]()
I’m interested in this bremsstrahlung, from what I’ve read on Reddit it’s very minimal.
The bremsstrahlung radiation is measurable with cheap Geiger devices, though I do concede that quantifying the amount of harm is challenging.
Everyone is free to make their own informed choices, the old thought “beta radiation can’t pass through the glass so no ionising radiation is detectable” is demonstrably incorrect.
As a most of these devices are keychain attachments, and therefore kept in front pockets for extended periods, I decided the risk wasn’t worth it- I get enough ionising radiation as it is from flights, I don’t need any more ![]()
I generally prefer a good DIY mix of 2 part epoxy or UV curing resin, and green or turquoise glow powder.
These are good, they go out of stock really quickly though.
