Better mode spacing? 5,30,100 or 5,50,100%

I know visual brightness doesn’t increase linearly so 5, 30, 100% would seem better.
I’d like to hear what others think.

It will likely be for an edc xp-g2 760mA at 100. 30 and 5% should be 228mA, 38mA.

5,30,100 works well for me with about even X4 spacing for low, med, high.
5,50,100 can work for a blasting max high; giving a low, high, ‘turbo’. The ‘high’ is where you run longer without burning your hand.

It should translate to 280-95-16 otf lumens. I think it’s much better than 280-155-16lm.

5-30-100 is considered the best visually by most, me included. The difference between 50 and 100 is not that great.

5-20-100 Might be worth a try... if your 100% is maxing out the emitter and you want (fairly) linear brightness steps.

The 20 may be more in the middle (of 5 and 100) because the LED won't be as hot as it is at 100% and therefore more efficient.

Depends on heatsinking, driver and other factors.

That being said, its your own preference, there's no need for mid to be exactly halfway.

Exactly. The reason I’ve given quite a few 3-mode lights away, is that the power levels were (visually, at least) badly spaced.
50% for the mid-level is too close (visually, at least) to full level. 5-30-100 is definitely the way to go.

Sorry…. don’t know how that damn link got included. Admin, could you delete post, please?

5-30-100 for me, but if at all possible, a very low-low added into the mix. Something like .02%.
