I have been lurking around this forum for awile an bought a few nice flashlights…. seven or so, and having a headlamp in the mail somewhere on it’s way. My wife think’s i’am an flashaholic…. but… naaa, i don’t know, I just like flashlights I use the flashlights for my nightly geocaching expeditions and sometime even during the day if the box is hidden in a dark place.
Anyway… it’s geting darker her in the northen parts of sweden so i need a nice thrower. I have the HD2010 as my crown jewl but is there some nice light that throws even better?
My budget is around $50 or so and i prefere 26650 over 18650 batteries, but if there is a nice light using 18650 batteries that will also work for me.
Does a modded STL-V2 really out-throw a HD2010 (assume that both are being driven at 3.5A or so). I mean, it looks like it should, but does it really? If so, by how much?
ILF, maybe you could list the best throwing lights by price in a kind of reference thread, these thrower questions come up nearly daily and you must be the most qualified, especially if Rik and 2100 give their input?

40-60 - Skyray STL-v2

80-100 - Crelant 7g5

150-200 - Fenix TK70 (might be a bit optimistic with price here)
200+ - Olight SR95
Withstanding HIDs etc, maybe 2100 would be best for that, obviously give more bang for buck and even overall but I’m not into them and really know jack…
60-80: Crelant 7G5-V2
80-100: Crelant 7G5CS, HID spotlight (actually better than all these LEDs mentioned)
100-150: Crelant 7G5V2/CS w/ collimator head OR dereelight DBS aspheric
150-200: don’t know
200+:Thrunite TN31 ($220) Elektrolumens ST-90 ($260 i think), or Olight SR95 UT (beasts ST-90, ~$450 at HKequipment)

I would put the Jacob A60 followed by the Small Sun C10 right probably under the V60C would be my guess.
And the TK35 may be just a hair under the TK35. I’ll have to compare them at longer distances. But this TK35 seems to be better than the last one I had.
The M3X is still one of my best throwers. It is so close to the Crelant 7G5 it isn’t funny. The more natural tint is what I really like on it. And it throws a perfect beam.
i took the dog out this weekend down a track iv found alongside a golf course and she usually outruns every other light i have……… she sure got a shock this weekend when she got blasted with the m3x from a couple hundred yards away!!! its now turned into my favourite light i own even though i cant just throw the light in a pocket when not in use when im out with it…… it finds the dog and thats that…. money well spent
If your taste is like mine, you might want to call EagleTac and check into buying a for sure updated driver of the M3C4 single XM-L. That is my favorite single XM-L thrower and I’m gonna guess going off all my other samples of XM-L lights and if the Crelant 7G5 I have is around 58,000 lux running off of 4 CR123A batteries than the M3C4 is right around 65,000 lux using 4 CR123A batteries in it. I know Blue Led off of CPF I believe said he got one and that is what he posted it as. I would say that is very dang close. But I love this light.
