My wife and daughter were just over at our local BJs, and my daughter emailed me a pic of these for like $10:
These look like cheap 9-LED lights (plus a keychain light and batteries), but with Halloween and Christmas coming up, thought that these might be good treats or stocking stuffers (or mod hosts :)!!)…
I’ll post some pics once they get here, if anyone’s interested…
Not sure what I’m going to do with them. They’re still in the original packaging. Do you, or does anyone else, think it’s worth opening it up to see whether there’s any modding potential?
EDIT:
It looks like the tailcap comes off, but not the head(s) - but I haven’t opened it yet:
EDIT 2:
Pic on back of package was wrong - the heads come off, but not the tailcaps:
The lights actually have a “pill”/PCB and tailcap:
And, you can “lego” them:
An 18500 fits, even w/o an adapter:
Here one is on, with 18500:
The lights are actually bright for 9-LED, to me at least. White wall with 18500:
It’ll be interesting coming up with something. Maybe a 3-up XP-G2 (or Nichia for you Nichia fans) :)??
EDIT 3: Sorry - it turns out that BOTH the head and tailcap come off - funny, I tried, but then my daughter was able to get the tailcaps off :)…
Probably not worth it if they are like typical 9 emitter lights. I do have a good dozen of those type of lights (not as nice as those) in the shed, car trunks, drawers, hanging near water heater and plumbing areas, etc. Places I don't want to keep a nice light, but want to have a light handy in. I sometimes wonder if one could be modded into something neat.
