Since when does Europe or any other country besides the USA celebrate Black Friday? It is always the Day after Thanksgiving which is an American Holiday.

Maybe I am missing something? Then again I never cared or participated in Black Friday.

Nearly 20 different countries have now implemented a Black Friday sale of their own: Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Russia, India and Pakistan all celebrate Black Friday on their own soil. Actually each year it seems like a few more countries jump on the sale wagon.

I guess the rest of the world likes to be like Americans!!!

It just proves that big business runs the world. You can’t get rapid agreements and results from governments but if there’s money to be made business will swoop in.

Can also happen that products get cheaper after the sale period! 10 days before, many sellers set up the prices, and then with discounts, the coupons become invalid. Usually you get only $1-2 Usd better prices. Though you can find some good deals if you know where and what to look for.

Much of the time, prices rise before the holiday massive shopping spree, then “massive discounts” bring them down to prices that are not much different than sales at other times of the year. There are exceptions… and for a reason. People who get lucky to stumble upon them raise hopes for other people that more will be found… and much time is wasted looking. I’ve fallen into that trap TWICE so far. Not any more.

I squirreled away a little something to do my Christmas shopping this Black Friday. It might just be bad luck across my particular band of interests but I’ve been utterly underwhelmed.

When I’m interested in a piece of gear, I’ll look it up at all the usual retailers and compare prices, shipping, deals, etc. Nobody seemed to have a stellar deal on anything I wanted today. The sales I did see typically didn’t break the preexisting best deal. For instance, the Bestech Texel is normally $52. It got down around $45 at Blade HQ but without free shipping, that’s more like $48. White Mountain Knives always has free shipping and has a bunch of active 10% off codes; so the same item was already a better deal over there.

You do can benefit from such general discount days if you are familiar with prices. Things like Convoy S8 for $7,99 or UF HS-802 for $12,39 (took these on 11.11) are worth their prices IMHO. So things you buy often are safer since you won’t get fooled that easy…
