Just recently I had the BLF GT on for quite a while like 5 min straight on turbo and it starts clicking like a hot car Engine after the engine has been turned off (but not frequently like once every 30 sec) The light clicks while it’s on and after it has been shut off and I’m just wondering if anyone knows what it is and if it’s not a good sign or vise versa.

This could be hot air making those noises while making its way out from the hot flashlight, as air expands with rising temperature. I had a similar problem with an Imalent DN70.

Can you tell where the noise is coming from? Maybe from the side switch ?

Edit: as long as the light stays dry I don’t think this might cause any issue. But beware when there is moisture, as it could happen that when cooling down water could get into the light.

Yes it sounds like it’s coming from the head of the light and it hasn’t got wet so I’ll assume it’s alright

Thanks!

It’s just a case of thermal expansion, most of them do it, well the 5 I had did. The head and bezel are torqued together very tightly, too tight in some examples I run across. Once I had them apart and then reassembled them, just tightening the bezel by hand, that clicking sound went away.

I just did a led replacement to 5700k (which obvious involved talking it apart) and the clicking still persists maybe it’s just inevitable, I’ll not worry about it though judging by what you guys said

Is your light tightened by hand or strap wrench? And where did you get a 5700k XHP35HI at and what Bin?

Just tightened by hand and this is the led Here

Ah yes D4 bin, thank you! 2 of my modded XHP35 GT’s have a stack of shims between the centering block and reflector for focusing I run a totally de-domed E4 @ 3amps and a shaved E4 1A stock driver and the other a totally de-dome 70.2 P2-1A 6v FETDD T/A Narsil driver 8x30Q’s @ 23+ amps and they stopped with the clicking, maybe its the shims and I just tightened the bezel enough to hold the reflector.

But nothing to worry about! How are you liking that 5700k emitter, better than the stock one?

It’s amazing but I have yet to try it at night I literally just put it in a few hours ago! Can’t wait to see how it looks at night, the only problem I have ran into is I never adjusted the focusing I Solely switched out the LED but there is somehow a ring around the hotspot which never used to be there but it’s all right if I have to live with it maybe it’s focusing like you had to mess with.

When you start taking measurements, then you will see if you have to shim it up. For now wait for dark, hopefully nice clear air, and enjoy! :+1:

I made shim packs for mine out of Plasti-Gage shim stock, worked out excellent, clean de-dome 70.2 P2-1A

Different thickness’s for Fine Tuning!

Clean de-domed E4 spot

Clean dedomed XHP70.2 P2-1A spot.

They are fun lights!
