Hey guys hope all is well! so if you remember a while ago i done stuffed up and broke my D80 i tried to DE-dome the XML2 and it didn’t work and i also tarnished the reflector so now its OP lol! I can not remember how i stuffed up the reflector must have wiped that part from my brain.
So i bought another BLF D80 from gearbest and i decided to fix the old one now. The reflector is still stuffed but i can not fix it. I tried to polish it and shine it but no luck! So for now i will put the bad reflector in the new light the XML2 because its a little more floody any ways wont matter a whole lot i guess.
I ordered a bunch of emitters from cutter so first i tried a XPG2 in the BLF D80 its okay i guess my first build with the XPG2 i did not DE-dome it i just wanted to try the emitter and see what it was about lol. What can i say? Its different the hot spot is small even with the dome on and the emitter its self is tiny overall running the stock driver its bright but not as bright as the XML2 but that is to be expected it is a lot smaller oh and cheaper. One thing it does heat up like crazy!
So i thought might as well slap in a XPL-HI and see how she goes. so its bright almost as bright as XML2 even with the bad reflector but it had no throw so i put the new reflector in and its a mighty beast!
It has the stock driver and just the XPL-HI V2 1A and 22 gauge wires and the spring bypass at the tail cap i got 4.5amps so not bad i guess.
Ultra mode in my back yard it sure is bright!

The hotspot is fairly tight but its hard to tell from this photo.

100 meters it does a good job. But not a great difference between this XPLHI and the stock XML2 difference but it is a little tighter hot spot at this difference the XML2 would light up the whole tree. !<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/94192896

My convoy C8 with a XPLHI on direct drive to the left and the lucky sun D80 to the right.

!
The D80 does look a little wider it is on the right and the C8 on the left.

Just for comparison this is the C8 at 100m

This isn’t an amazing build just thought i would post it in case some one was thinking about doing this mod. I will use the XPG2 in C8 that is meant to yield good results.
If some one knows a reflector that fits let me know please but i kind of enjoy the flood from the light now.
