BLF X5 and switch removal...

Has anyone tried to remove the switch on this light? It is so tight that I cannot push it our of the tailcap! I am afraid that I will break the switch or the board.

I am using this in the bedroom and I have a very dark blue boot that I want to install to dim it down a little. I have it in my X6 and it works great… It makes a huge difference in the light output.

Have you removed the retainer ring from inside the tail cap? The switch pcb and plastic washer should just fall out then.

I think the board was to big around and somehow they jammed it in and now it is working like one of the little metal washer spring clips. There were board fragments in the threads of the light. I guess that I will report the issue and see what becomes of it. It is going to break if I try to force it out.

The X6 one comes right out, like is should that I how I tested the dark blue boot.

My copper X5 was really tight too. I pushed it out through the switch boot, and it took some force. I doubt its tight enough to break anything though. File the edges a bit before you put it back in.

Mine was loose. I’m going to move it’s blue led over to the X6 and replace it with two amber ones.

With the cap on a metal desk and both thumbs bearing down on it, it will not move. :frowning: Not sure what to try next…

Had to use a bolt that was about hole size and drive it out with the palm of my hand… It did not break!

congrat matt!

I would really appreciate pictures as you put the ambers in, if you can do a step-by-step.
I’ve seen remarks on how small this stuff is.
