I had many XML lights lately. Many of them are really useful lights with broad beams. But if you think of shooting a bit far without killing your sight an XML usually needs a bigger head to throw. So I thought maybe I could get an XPG light this time. Only head twist to change modes and should have a momentary on forward clicky.
So at around $40-45, should it be Eagletac T100C2 mkII with XPG S2 or a Lumintop TD12 VPower? Lumintop is $10 cheaper and it has a clip as a bonus. Eagletac OTH is an Eagletac and S2 bin.
Yah - the XM-L has sat on top of the food chain for a while now.
With the new XP-G2 now delivering up to 165 lumen/watt, I’m hoping for an XM-L class LED - maybe 180 lumen/watt or more ? Or have we hit the limit of physics as we know it ?
XM-L still seems to push out more lumens per the same tailcap currents. It is an efficient emitter, and a great flooder for close range but for some throw XP-G and XP-E offer more for the same lumen. It is something like a 150lm E21 looks as bright as a 240lm R5 light, and a 360lm XML light.
Ooops - you're right - 683lm/W being 100% efficiency. Er.. but then that's for green 555nm, and what's this scotopic photopic monochromatic thingies? 1700lm/W max is for what now?
