Hi guys, here is the Brinyte B188, a zoom-able hunting flashlight with three LED colors: red-white-green. Do you like the design?

I own the B158B with all three lightcolours. Has the B188 the same system with three different pills ?

Please explain how it is focussed, i.e. only by turning the head ? You’re previous torches could be mounted at the head, and focussed by turning the tube, which is preferable.

Is it one head (or pill) per colour , or somehow all three in one ?

It seems too bulky, maybe heavy, to me. The front bezel I think does nothing, except make the diameter even larger. Keep it as slim as possible, with a bit of tube extending forward to keep the light from bouncing off e.g. the gun ’scope and barrel.

I like the look of the tailswitch/remote cord, is it electronic, no losses, and will the connector withstand recoil ?

Again, the tail-switch looks too bulky.

To mount this neatly with a standard 1” mount looks like a challenge for some applications. Keep it as slim, light and rugged as possible.

All three colors are in one, like this:

The Brinyte B158 is the best convex lens flashlight I’ve ever seen. The beam spot was a nice circle and very far from a brightly lit square, but I liked its shape too.

I don’t see how that LED arrangement could work.

I think each LED will be focussed in a completely different direction, only the centre one would be aligned with the “bore-sight” of the rifle.

The two outer ones, as well as pointing too high, and too low (or too left and too right, depending how the torch is mounted), may not be precisely focussed, even with the best aspheric lens they might be too far off-axis for this thing to work.

There is potential here, and I agree, the B158, first and second versions is a superb torch.

I could manage without any white LED, a decent green one would probably be most-used at night.

The red LED should be the longest wavelength possible.

Most useful would be an IR LED compatible with either analogue or digital night-vision (legal here), in the longer wavelengths.

Switching between LEDs ideally done on the remote tail-switch, not the buttons on the head, which may not be easily accessible or consistently positioned, depending on how the head is turned for focus.

Since you are consulting with our Hungarian and Italian experts, I defer to their far greater experience of what works

Further: the remote tail switch should be an active device, dropping no power. This has been demonstrated on here by simple FET circuits in the tail, Lexel makes them.

A hunting torch needs no driver in the head, or UI, just on and off. If multiple LEDs are to be used then that gets more complicated, maybe a simple driver in the head using three FETs., with the remote tail switch plugged into the side of it and a basic communication protocol. E.g. main switch on or off, second switch cycles between LEDs.

Hmm, interesting. My initial reactions:

Having white, red, and green in one light could be nice.
The head does appear to be bulky. May need to hold one first before I fully judge that.
I’m concerned how an off-center LED under an aspheric optic would perform. Again, I’d need to see it in action.
As has been mentioned, the remote switches are nice for hunting but are prone to high electrical resistance unless you use an “active” style where a FET is used instead of flowing the full power through that long of a cord. Since it looks like the remote switch can easily be installed & removed (I like the concept!), I’m guessing it’s an active switch?

Are the overall dimension (include head diameter) similar to the B158 (/B158B)?

Good call, that seems plausible. But Brinite seem to have missed some things in translation. Such as keeping the tube and tail switch the same 1” diameter throughout so it can quickly be slid or clipped into a standard 1” mount in any position. And the slimmer and lighter the thing, the better.

Not sure how sliding the LEDs around might work in practice in real conditions, reliably.

Is it possible to built this flashlight with a high CRI LED and neutral white light ? That`s very helpful for searching blood etc. !!
For example: 1x XPL-Hi, 1x XPE R2 Red and 1x high CRI Nichia 219C (5000k with 90CRI) or
1x XPE R2 Red, 1x XPE R2 Green and 1x high CRI Nichia (5000k, 90CRI) ?
