1 - AA: Four modes: moon>low>med>high, tailstand, lanyard, softly rounded edges at each end to make it pocket-friendly. Removable, crenelated head for use as candle. Square threads. NW high CRI flood beam, reversible pocket clip. Flat/matte finish (not glossy). I didn’t include 14500 on purpose in order to simplify driver design (ala Zebralight) & keep costs down. As efficient as reasonably possible. Target price $25.00 - $30.00.

Yep two buttons/switches is always better than one. With tailswitch, sometimes you lose tail standing which sucks. However, a rotary brightness switch would be the absolute best.

Yes, those are three separately zoomable heads with different LED colors, plus a laser in the bottom.

Honestly until I looked at the Brinyte website I never realized there were that many modesl available. I’ve typically only seen a small handful, mostly because they’re not readily sold by the vendors I frequent.

As others have indicated neutral/hi-cri emitters and 26650 battery options seem to be missing from the incredibly wide variety of lights made by Brinyte.

I’m also personally a fan of infinitely variable ramping (when done well). And for fixed level User-Interfaces (UI), I think a programmable UI would be great. For example allowing a user to turn blink modes on/off, or L/M/H to H/M/L order, etc. At least one offering of each in your EDC category might be good to test the marketplace.

I am also a fan of the B158 and B158B, not that I own either yet, but when funds allow the next light I will be purchasing is going to be the B158B.

I would like to see the B158 and B158B available with a single mode direct drive driver. Even better, but probably not possible due to the design, would be a dual switch set up with tail switch for on/off and side switch for modes, one of those modes being direct drive.

I have a DIV01 and a DIV03 and have been extremely satisfied with them! I am very impressed with the selection of dive lights and look forward to getting a DIV10 or DIV20 for this season (cold New England dark lakes). I would like to see something like the DIV20 with the ability to mount both a wide beam angle video head AND a tight beam angle spot at the same time running off the same canister. These heads being able to be controlled independently would be amazing!

I’d like something that looks like an Inova T1, has a tail switch, but is brighter. Something that can take a 18650. It needs a clip so I can carry it in a pocket. I’ll I need is high. :sunglasses:

How about a 2×AA light with a high CRI LED? The only people I can think of who make one are EagleTac, and they’re expensive.

I’d be looking for:

5000K 90+ CRI Nichia 219B LED.
general purpose beam profile similar to a Desert Tan Convoy S2+ (the one with the smooth reflector).
reverse-clicky tail switch for mode changes.
three modes at 15, 50 and 200 lumens. I’d be fine with extra moonlight and turbo modes, but 15, 50 and 200 are the ones I want most.
mode sequence: Low - Medium - High.
no mode memory, always start on Low.
no strobe and no other flashing modes.

Basically, a “normal” light for people who want better colour rendition. I’d buy several, some for myself and some as gifts.

Another idea would be to make the light run on 1×AA NiMH or 1×14500 Li-Ion, with an extension tube that lets it use 3×AA NiMH to get Li-Ion performance and / or lots of extra runtime in an emergency. In that case, only enabling the extra turbo mode (400 lumens?) with 3×AA NiMH or 1×14500.

Needs to be close to 1000 lumens in turbo with maybe thermal step down or timer.

It’s almost like you read my mind moderator007! I’d love something like an 18350 Olight Baton with a nice NW/high-CRI emitter.

The one thing I disagree with moderator007 on is the UI. For me short press to change modes and long press for off is just about a deal breaker. If the light is going to have a simple UI then I’d like short press for on/off and long press to change modes. Apart form that all the shortcuts moderator007 described are spot-on. The only thing that might be better than the Baton UI is a simplified version of ToyKeeper’s Andúril, to give the option of smooth ramping or steps.

Another thing that would be great on an 18350 EDC would be a tail cap magnet. I find them really useful.

Separately from the 18350 EDC idea I’d be interested in an 18350 zoom, and I’m a big fan of light with interchangeable 18350 and 18650 battery tubes. Every light with a removable 18650 tube should have an optional 18350 tube!

I would add to the suggestion to make the same light available in kit with 18650+18350 tube, just like Astrolux, Convoy, Emisar etc… are doing… this is incredibly simple from a manufacturing point of view, but it adds huge interest from our buyers perspective.

In particular, I would love to see a light like the DQG tiny, as small and light as possible (no steel/copper/brass on such lights imho, nor for the host nor for details such as retaining rings), but with both 18650 and 18350 option. I love small EDC lights, but the only reason I haven’t bought the dqg 18650 it’s the lack of 18350 option: it’s already small, but I’d want the option to make it even shorter when I don’t need runtime (99% of the time when EDC for “just in case”)

I’m with you on that, I dislike the flashy disco modes to. There are some people that like these modes I suppose.
So if your going to add them in the UI please make them hidden (special button presses) and not in the main UI.
That way they are there for the people who like them and not there for people who despise them. :+1:

Hi, I had and have b158, b158b XM-L2 U4 versions and XP-L HI V3, also B58U XM-L2 U2 and XP-L HI V3 and B88 XM-L2 U4.

First of all you have some things that you must to do that will upgrade your lights since they have certain defects.

b158 is a legendary host for the price and really hard to win in that price range, even in the higher.

1. Floating driver ( it was written about it on this forum ), that causes flickering on the light.
2. Better springs ! I have multiple b158 lights that have same problem, after some time of use springs ( especially this one on the drivers side ), become too weak to hold battery in contacts. After some shots and recoils with rifle light start to behave in two ways, first is after shot it change mode to next, and second is after shot it get in LVP regime and start to behave like battery is empty, all back in normal when you turn off and turn on lamp again. If you put better quality and stronger spring then this would not happen.

b158 is winning host but you obviously can not understand that, it is simple just make larger version of b158 with some improvements and it is easy money for Brinyte companu. For example b158 with head diameter of 60mm - 70mm, 2x 18650 offered with some different LED’s in it like XHP 35 HI, XHP 70 etc and it will be a new killer hunting light for the price.

CRI 90+, 4500 – 5000k and have the USB inside an O-ring seal instead of behind a rubber flap.
no flickering
18650 (with shorter tubes option maybe)
Overall length must be under 100mm though.
