I prefer red for calling in foxes - over summer here they can be called in really close. I use a green spotter in the hand to spot their eyeshine while moving and using a call. Then when they are moving in to the call I switch to the rifle mounted red light.

Occasionally I will use a white XP-L Hi for the longer range it gives, but this isn’t normal as most of my shots even with my .223 will be 100m or under.

I have also found that a red light will give the best results with rabbit eyeshine.
