I’ve only found the BM257 for sale in a few places in Europe, it’s made in Taiwan.
.
Tme.eu approx £95 … $135 including delivery to ?
Ebay Italy approx £92 … $131 including delivery to Europe
A real shock was the high one from another authorised seller in Germany £210 … $298 I didn’t ask about delivery. :Sp
.
Brymen multimeter’s are manufactured in Taiwan, would anyone know if they can be purchased from a country in the region - China?
.
I haven’t been on here long enough to know anyone who could arrange a purchase and the shipping, I know Freeme managed the group buy of the the UNI-T Clamp Meter but wasn’t sure if there’s anyone I should ask if they’re interested?
.
Frankie Tong is a well-respected member on the EEVBlog forum.
He is/(was?) the go-to-guy for Brymen meters.
This is his ebay store:
He does not list the models you mentioned, but he may be able to source it anyway.
Brymens are good meters, but if you do not work on high-energy circuits a good UNI-T model will be cheaper and have greater functionality.
I do have a Brymen among others, but usually reach for a cheap UT61E. It has one extra digit which is useful sometimes. Cons on the 61E are no back-light, no auto power off, no thermocouple input, needs 9V battery (most new meters are on AA/AAAs now). The test leads that come with the UNI-Ts are also not great, I use Brymen silicone-insulated test leads which are available separately.
I saw the UNI-T meter review on youtube too, it may have been the UT61E.
I'll have another view, It was mentioned as the first one to buy then the Brymen. P ☺
It's easy to get carried away, I haven't heard of them before. I'm not wanting it for anything too intensive. The UNI-T UT61E does everything I need, I'm always thinking that more money buys better quality.
Thanks very much Del for telling me about Frankie, that's a massive help as I was struggling to find anyone. Lol
I'll see if I can make contact and ask what he can do. ☺
I'm expecting a shipment from Brymen in the first week of February so you should see it becoming available in less than 2 weeks. Shipping cost is already included in the product pricing, except that there's a $2.4 fee for the tracking number which is mandatory for this item due to its value.
I did much research when I was on the hunt for my first multi meter. I chose the Brymen 257 from Franky and it has served me vey well for several years. An excellent choice.
PS: Franky’s store also has a great selection of thick gauge wires, probes and copper alligator clips.
