Buck/booster needed

I have a solarforce L2M. I bought it for its modularity and power source flexability. I will be using AA x1or two, 17500 x1 or 2, rcr123 x1 or 2, or 18650 x1.
My current drop in is a high voltage 4.2-8.4v Solarforce LC-1 R2-M unit.
I see solar force makes a .7-4.2v unit. I see myself having the low volt unit in the host when, without thinking, i throw an 18650 in and fry it.
I was wondering if there was a drop in out there or one to be built that can run .7-8.2v? This would allow all power sources to be used without thought.
I am told this called a buck/booster driver. does anyone know any members that can make a P60 drop in that will accomplish this feat. the idea here is a light that can run on a wide range of batteries. Performance is nice, but not the main point of this project.

A 18650 is 4.2 volts fully charged and I can personally tell you that drop in will handle a 18650. 2 CR123s (or RCR) would be to much though.

That could run off both a AA and 2 RCR123As? Sadly no, while it could hypothetically be done in a larger format there are no drivers available that can. (Not in a P60 size nor larger afaik)
