One of my favorite lights in my arsenal is my ThruNite Tn12 with a warm emitter . Amazon ThruNite TN12
Its a good combination of performance and size. I like the single 18650 size, ON/OFF tailcap, side mode switch, warm emitter, and the flood/throw balance. The only thing I don’t like is the $45-50 price. I think the light would be perfect to throw in my cars. As I’ll be buying 3-4 that could get speedy. Does anyone have any suggestions of lights that checks a lot of the same boxes at a better price point?
The ThorFire tk15 and tk15s are recent releases that probably slightly outperform the tn12, have warm emitters and cost about $18-20 depending on the source. Doesn’t get better than that, i’m getting some myself actually. There are reviews on BLF, have a look at them!
just got the flashlights. All i can say is the TK15 and TK15s are both really pretty compact, smaller than my TN12 by about an inch so if i thought it fit into my pocket nightly, the TK’s do even better. And they are warmer than my TN12. Always thought the 12 was pretty warm… until now. The VG10S seems a little brighter than all the rest and it’s noticeably heavier and bigger, but will throw somewhat further by virtue of its reflector size.
I’d really highly recommend these new flashlights. Really glad i held off purchasing the VG15 and VG10 since they were in CW and had OP reflectors. In flashlights this size they just don’t need OP. But that’s just my personal opinion.
the first one is basically the same as the TK15, although the 2nd one is cool, magnetic control switch at that price! Don’t have any first hand experience with them though but at that price it’s worth taking the plunge.
Well there is the Atactical (now Wowtac) A1S. It was designed by Thrunite and is as close to a TN12 as you can get. Currently available on Amazon for $25 with a rechargeable 18650 (originally $29). If you don’t mind a little less output (550 Lumens), the original A1 is $15.
I’ll second the Thorfire TK15S for users who like momentary and mode memory. Reviewing it at the moment, and liking it a lot! The hotspot is warm, but the XP-L2 has a lot of tint shift.
