I’m a hunter. I want a cheap ( price ) light that would zoom, throw a beam to 200 yards and identify the animal, and be able to switch from red to green to UV or white. UV being to help on blood trailing. Red to green would be the top choice if others are out of question.
So what would you build this with? And please remember, me hunter…you flashlight guys. I am not going to have a clue unless explained to me. Lol
I have a uf-t20, a t6 on order and one that says ” police 50w”? But will buy what ever I need to build this or have someone else build it.

2. You want to be able to switch between all those emitters on the fly? I can’t think of a way to do that well. For a zoomie the emitter really needs to be centered under the lens. Obviously you can’t have multiple things centered at once. And I can’t think of a custom driver currently available that could control all of that.
It sounds to me like you need 2-3 separate lights

As far as switching colors, that may be a problem if you are just looking for a “flip the switch” color change. Mechanically, you can switch pill assemblies, but it involves screwing parts apart and back together. There is no one single light that will be perfect, so pick the most important item after the throw (200m ability) and choose based on what that is. If you want red then green ability, find one that you can change the pill fairly quickly and buy separate lights for the white and UV as an example.
UV for blood tracking, you could buy a pocket light for that, keeping the hunting light for hunting and the UV for more up close tracking duties (and finding scorpions…). Plenty of white light options here too… Convoy S2+ for instance…
I was thinking of just building a few different heads that could be switched out for colors on the same light. But if that’s not an option, separate lights. Would like to keep it as simple and cost effective as I can hide from my wife.

OK. I found the B158 light and the pill for it. Do I order it in green or red and fit the pill with the other color or order in white and make the pills any brighter than factory some how?
If you want to keep the LEDs in the same head, you could use the mce rgbw driver to control a few combinations of green red white and uv. The driver is only 700ma and you would probably have to eliminate the zoomy(I think the effectiveness of zoomies is over rated but I’ve never had the top of the line).
Or dr jones xml2 rgbw driver can control each light with linear brightness and any combination of the four. I have one in hand right now but the switch broke from shipping :~ . I don’t think that dr jones is taking requests at the moment though?
