Reading the discussions about these lights has gotten me interested. So far I’ve only owned P60 and similar- sized 18650 lights. Do those of you who have experience with them think the XinTD v.4 (NW) is worth the price, over the Convoy C8 w/T6 C3 and smooth reflector, especially for throw? I’m hoping either one of these will be a big improvement in throw over a P60 light, even of similar output.
both will out throw a p60, no danger of that but with the nicer design and driver of the xintd v4 that’s what’d get my vote.
I keep saying it though and if you really want throw in a small reflector, you need an xp-g2, not an xm-l/xm-l2 which at the moment means a custom build, I have however seen suggestion of +100Kcd from a correctly built xp-g2 xintd v4 which is enough to push me towards buying one once my house buy and funds have settled down, I do need to try out the new gords cave after all
yes, both lights will instantly out-throw P60 based unless your P60 is hard driven one particularly with XRE
else than that, no chance.
if not favoring into modding but like the P60 style, trustfire R2 XRE has similar form factor and accept P60 pill (without reflector) by screwing (not drop in).
I just checked Lightmalls and that one looks good (4 amp driver?). I’m wondering if the reputed superior build quality of the XinTD makes sacrificing a couple of hundred lumens worth it. Would the 3.6 amp driver be a little easier on the batteries? I’m also guessing runtime on high would be a bit longer with the XinTD?
A Properly driven de-domed XM-L2 can achieve 100k cd also. I tested the one that Tom E built for me in a lightmalls host and got 102k cd out of it as well as 1040 lumens after 30 seconds. It still has great usable spill as well. I love this little light.

Just a couple of shots of this C8 from our weekend trip to Big Bend National Park. The first being at 125M and the second being at 300M.
I can’t comment on the convoy but I have the XinTD C8 V4 cool white and love it! One of the best quality torches I own, besides my TN31. Awesome light for the price, I would recommend it to anyone.
