Can I change the emitter in a Convoy L6?

I ordered and received an Convoy L6. It it allegedly 5000K (looks like 4000K to me) and I hate it.
Listed in the sell forum for $50, but no takers
So, is it possible to to change to a 6500K emitter?
I have never done a mod, what parts would I need and how would I do it?
Is there something I can buy that just drops in?

Look through the index of postd here. a few pages back there is a Convoy L2/L6 mod’s post.
There’s a few in there with instructions.

When you’ve done it.
You can jump on a plane. Straight through NY to Brisbane, and do mine.
I’ll take you for a fish on the reef up here.

Trouble is. after coming here you most probably won’t want to go back.

If you can solder 2 leads, then you can change your emitter.
Buy a 70.2 in the tint you like already on mcpcb, unsolder the old one, use a drop of thermal paste on your new one, solder back those leads, assemble, and you’re ready.

I can solder two leads. Where do I find the LED on the board?

If i’m correct, there is just 1 version. The difference is in the pads of the mcpcb for 6 or 12V (4 series or 2 parallel)
Thr KD version should be a like for like replacement

OK, I found out it is 6 volt but the KD board looks different. The one that is installed has the 6 pads.

If you just buy it from Simon on his AE store, then you will receive a good version. Otherwise just message him, he will help you for sure.

If you’re in the US you might want to buy from MtnElectronics. It’ll be a lot faster. Here’s the XHP70.2 1A, which is cool white — Cree XHP70.2 P2 1A on DTP MCPCB. There’s options right there on the page to have it mounted on the mcpcb for you. You want the 6v, 20mm option for your host.
