What I am looking for is somone who has the bench power supply who can mount one on big heat sink and crank em up to see where they turn from “red” to “angry blue” aka fried.
They might fry at different settings depending on voltage and amprage?
Any takers (I will supply the emitters to “test”
I am seeing different numbers from the spec sheets (plus I am not the most Electrical savvy guy) so I figured, a good ol emperical test might clarify the matter.

I wonder if a photo sensor (LDR/photo diode/lux meter) will see the color change. If it does it would be a fairly easy to make a voltage & brightness vs. current curve past the point where the diode dies.
I just made a 14500 budget zoomie with a 655nm Rebel led on a Sinkpad (accidentally dedomed), but before that (and before the dedome) I did a very quick output test with the bare led on a power supply (without recording the the numbers) to see at what current it maxes out. Maximum was at 2.3A, with ~70 lumen output (you don't see much at 655nm) and 2.8V voltage. I made the zoomie with 1.83A current (7135-regulated), the output is at 90% of max.
There is a fair chance that the Cree XP-E2 version of this led behaves quite the same as the Rebel so if you keep the current slightly under 2A my bet is that you drive it close to max.
If you want to be certain I can always do a dedicated output-test of your led.
Come on When its in the dish its okay, but hunting its not…
Actualy boars and pigs are daltonists…or lets say nearly daltonist: they react on blue and UV light/cold white too
My experience shows that the best for the boar hunt is 2700-3000k, red works too but it aint good for the human eyes and cant be used on a long turn base
Djozz, the boar hunting is a thing to remember…its a whole process, the preparation, the waiting, stories that have been told meanwhile/and after….you have to experience it definately: believe me or not, there is a great chance for you to become blood-thirsty too
ehhmm, well, that sounds cool, and btw I find hunting quite ok, I may even like the stories, but for my actual carnivorous needs I myself prefer the supermarket
