IMO putting the final price after the promo code is not a good idea and doesn’t help anyone. Can we agree not to do this any longer?
I think it would be best if we only mention the advertised price listed on a merchant’s website and then state that a good discount can be had by entering a PROMO CODE without mentioning the final price.
Otherwise, as we have seen in the case of FASTTECH, their competitors and even the manufacturers themselves end up creating problems for them that can only hurt us in the long run and could change their ability to continue providing great service at a great price in the future - it could even be an existential threat.
This has caused problems for both Fasttech and Illumination Supply who are two of our favorite sellers.
In general, it's kind of stupid for members to post the actual price if the sellers have made a point of not posting it themselves. If they wanted it posted, they would have posted it.
I use blow up in the un dramatic british sense. it gave me a mild dc electric shock then emitted a blue flash and smelled of cat wee. the smell synonymous with destroyed electronics.
no one was harmed in the killing of this charger, aside gords wallet if he doesn’t get refunded.
I have no problem with this but I would suggest that a special thread is made or even a side banner on the home page of BLF ( Mr. Admin, what do you think of this?) is made announcing the current, or upgraded as necessary, promo codes of all RECOMMENDED on-line suppliers, for it is quite difficult keeping track of the promo codes of different suppliers.
Well, if there is an unforeseen downside we can always abandon my idea of the RECOMMENDED DEALERS and their CURRENT PROMO CODES….as Dengoh says, the bottom line is that we protect the good dealers and also our wallets!
First, I think we speak only about the big coupon codes, not the usually 5% codes, which are offered by many shops and which you can find easily with google or on special coupon pages.
What is the difference, if someone post the reduced end price or the normal shop price and write that a special promo code could reduce it (like the EA4 code)? If someone want to know, how low tjhe price is, he will test it.
If you want to have a secret price, everyone shouldn’t speak about it and the big promocodes should only be shown in not public area of the forum. If you google fasttech and the great coupon code you will find about 3800 site, who show it. You can find it on facebook and on dealpages like sickdeals or ozbargain since 16/17. Jan. It isn’t a secret anymore.
There are also some other shops, who sell it for under $60. Are this only small shops - no. For example Amazon.com sell it for $53,78.
Maybe this would be another opportunity - a coupon list in a not public are of the forum. Only members could enter this area and all need a min. post count for example 50 or 100. Without the min. post count every new member could see the coupon codes and it isn’t a barrier anymore.
It would be also great, if a new coupon code could be created and the old should expired. Only with this option, it will work.
