Canadian's, help me, please

I’m an ER nurse and its cold, flu and Ebola season and I want a better mask than is offered around here. N 95 masks are good but they are not great. Nexera Medical makes a really nice series of masks called the Guardian FFP3 (Much more effective filtration standard than N 95), and the Defender N99. The Defender N 99 has been proven to work for 12 hours straight and I want some. Only they are not approved for sale in the US. They are approved in Canada and the European Union. Second to that would be the Guardian FFP3 that actually has a higher level of filtration.

If one of you has access to buy some and send them to me I would be happy to pay you in advance.

The immunization against the flu is dandy, but only for 3-4 months and only for the most dangerous strains. The ones that leave you feeling -well like you have the flu you are on your own to develop immunity to. I don’t want to get sick and deal with missed work. Not to mention I don’t want to bring anything home.

Thanks for any help.

I just did a quick look through some retailers I could think of off the top of my head that may carry this and didn’t have any luck. I have also fired off an email to the retail home health division at the company I work for asking them if they carry them or can get their hands on them. When I’m at work tomorrow I will ask one of the ladies that works in the HBC end of it if we can look up all the listings they have for medical masks to see if they have any of the skews you listed. Besides that, its too bad you didn’t ask a couple years ago. On a site similar to Craigslist a guy in Edmonton had 300 of them in boxes for sale for $3 a pop but that was in 2012 (at that price I would have bought some just to have on hand). I do have some other medical resellers that I will check into and perhaps do a post on MyTwitFace and see if any of my nursing friends know a source if all else fails. Hopefully something comes back….

The only online listing I found was this one not a bad price/mask but 72 of them might be a little much unless you can get some people to split the order with… (4people x 18?)

I’ll look around for you Scotty. I have a couple of nurse friends and I’ll see if the hospital here has any.

Thanks guys. If the only available is high volume I will get some others to join in.

I’d be in for a couple if a high volume order is necessary.

The ones in the link are Children’s size.

These ones can be ordered in Adult or children’s size, just specify the size in the order notes, they come 2 in a pack and shipping is Free.

This is exactly what you’re looking for. I’ll still see what we have at our hospital here.

There’s a lot of n99 available you’re looking for the antimicrobial ones right?

If we’re placing orders for stuff that is a lot easier to find in Canada, I’ll take a few cases on Cantillon.

My wife works at our local hospital and they've been informed the next Ebola case in Texas will be coming to us.

So yeah, definitely interested. Nice call Scotty!

I’d resign rather than risk death of yourself and loved ones; I believe the CDC has been lying since day one about this and they just now decided to form a response team; what a joke they are.

Nice find Bushwacked. I sent the supplier an e-mail as my first request for 50 was too low.

Regarding the Ebola, the donning and doffing of the boots, tyvek hooded jumper suit, the face shield, N95, and gloves is an art. If it’s a real case there is a pathogen on the other side of the material trying to find you and your body to use as a host to grow itself in and kill you. This will produce adrenaline and diminish the skills of all but the very practiced of individuals. This week I will start practicing.

When I confront the bug I would like to stack the deck in my favor with this mask. -it has not been tested and proven against Ebola. (A string virus) The antimicrobial Fosshield copper and silver ion stuff shows great effect against all the other things that we fear and the mask filters 99, not just 95. So it’s MY opinion not currently supported by CDC, WHO or anyone else that I have heard of that this mask will protect against Ebola droplets, or droplets of body fluids containing Ebola virus. At the very least I am certain this mask far exceeds the N 95 standards and therefore protects better.

I’ll keep this thread updated with details and if I can get them I will. If I have to get a lot of them and others would like some I will coordinate with those interested by PM.

picrthis: thanks for pointing out the size, didn’t even catch that at all… :8) Nice find on that other store!

Checked with someone I know at work and they have nothing even close to what your looking for listed. Maybe that might change if the fit really hits the shan. Still waiting to hear back on the email.

Yeah, the doofuses here in Dallas seem to just love spreadin’ that cootie love around… we just shipped all our cases out so other people can enjoy the fun. So far, only Ebolanurse 1 seems to have been the only person with the slightest lick of sense and concern about spreading it… I wish her well.

Here is what I have found out so far…

$420➗144=$2.92 a mask After all the free shipping from China for flashlights and such, I’m surprised to see shipping more expensive than the masks.

Three bucks a mask is doable.

Maybe they are flying over here and hand delivering them. :stuck_out_tongue:

This will be me picking up the package…

I do have a concern as to authenticity. Everything that I have been able to find about the Nexera Masks indicate that they are manufactured in the United States. That the ones we have been able to locate so far are from China gives me pause for thought before plunking $420 down to buy a pig in a poke. Nexera has not responded to my inquiries as John Q. Citizen and I have not opened up any real information looking into the partner companies that produce the components and textiles used in the manufacture of the masks. If I make a mistake that I suffer for that’s one thing. If I make a mistake and others suffer for it is not acceptable. First do no harm.

More information as I learn it.

Edit; Request sent to Alibaba sales person to verify the product.

I’d step carefully, shipping DHL express should only be around $50, plus they say “origin of product: zhejiang china”
If Nexera says they are made in the USA, then I’d say buyer beware.
