In serial is crazy dangerous, parallel is just really dangerous. :P However the large currents it dumps into the dead one are generally enough to revive it. I originally heard about it on FNF.
My iCharger has a ‘Precharging’ feature. If the cell is over-discharged and the voltage is too low it will notify the user to go into
‘precharging mode’ and will supply a low current (100mA or .1A) to increase the cell or battery voltage to a level high enough
to go into normal charging.
You can try Scaru’s suggestion since you don’t have a hobby charger.
It's your choice. I harvest batteries as a hobby so I don't mind the risk. It would probably be easier to just find another battery pack and take it apart.
