BLF A6 bare aluminum Cerakoted OD-Green by n10sivern. The thought was to match my knife and sheath as much as possible. Very pleased how it turned out.
Wow not bad!
I wouldn’t mind some white cerakoted lights.
ChicagoX made some custom lights that were done in pure white, and they looked fabulous.
Very very cool!
Love it!
That looks really nice.
I like the set up of your Mora as well… That cerakote looks great on the A6…
Thanks guys. Kevin (n10sivern) does nice work. He did a C8 for me in flat dark earth that I’m really happy with too.
Very nice! Were the threads coated or left bare?
They were left bare
Looks good.
How does this affect heat dissipation?
Since Cerakote was developed for weapons, I would assume it doesn’t effect it any worse than the black coatings FL manufacturers use. Nothing scientific, but I don’t notice any difference in heat with or without it.
no anodisation is not a coating, it helps in heat disipation.
this seems like an insulating cover.
Heat dissipation has long been a subject of discussion, but I have never seen that it has ever been tested thoroughly enough to say exactly how much of a percentage of an effect anodizing has, or does not have. Certainly on stock lights, cerakote or any other coating should not be an issue and I wouldn’t think it would be a real issue with any light, as none of them will probably get so hot to cause a problem, before they get so hot you cannot hand hold them. Which is much less heat then they can take.
Nice looking light!
100 consecutive rounds out of an AR15 and the barrel is almost hot enough to light a cigarette. I doubt Cerakote would be used on Military type weapons if it acted as an insulator. Or maybe it’s just not significant enough to matter vs the benefit of corrosion protection. I have two blf A6’s, and I can’t tell the difference in the amount of heat
As always, how big a deal someone chooses to make of it is up to them but a test might be to see how much difference in time it takes for a given rise in temperature of the exterior of the case with the slower rise being the poorer performer. Even then difficulties in measureing two different surfaces could skew the results. I like the looks and wouldn’t care much either way.
