changing the on/off button

first off, as im sure the title gives away… im not a modder. im just an average joe, that wants a GITD button. lol!
i have a couple of the ultrafire 502b lights.

i ordered the buttons, but here is my issue, i didnt know how to take the bottom piece apart, but i was able to get the rubber button out, and i can get it back in, but i cant get it even and centered… so obviously i didnt do it right…. i will try to post a pic.

i have not got the new buttons in yet. im was just trying to figure it out, so it was the original button i was trying to put back in.
i understand right now i sound like an idiot…. oh well, until this, my flashlights were the $2 harbor freight 9 led lights, and one of the big 6v floating lanterns, an old maglite, and a half beat up 3-1 stanley tripod flashlight…… so…. yea. i guess my “expertise” lies elsewhere.

Welcome to BLF, where most of us started out as total noobs

If you got it apart putting it back together is pretty much just doing that in reverse, but I find a lot of the time it helps if you push the rubber boot all the way in before you put the switch back in. I use a set of punches, but you can use almost anything. I’m not sure if its the right size for a 502b (gave mine away), but usually a AA or AAA battery works quite well.

Good luck!

see, the switch is still in, i didnt know how to take it out…. lol

Oh, that explains a lot! If you unscrew the tailcap from the battery tube you should see an aluminum ring with two holes in it. Use a pair of pliers, fine tweezers, snap ring pliers, or something similar inserted in the holes to rotate the ring off (counter clockwise). From there you should be able to pull everything out fairly easily.

Hope that helps

ok, so there wasnt any holes, however, using your first post, i decided to take a AA battery and use it has a punch, and the button came right out, and i was able to put the original button back on straight, so im good to go for when the others arrive!

Thanks for the help! in fact, your second post gave me the idea on how to fix the loose glass, and got that fixed too!
