Charging my mini USB lights

I conducted a search on charging and saw a few threads dedicated to charging batteries that are being stored or those being maintained, but I had a question about charging my daily use lights.

I have a couple of flashlights that I like to carry with me at all times. The Nitecore TUP and the Thrunited T1. Primarily, the T1 is the light I will have with me at all times. Some days I find I use it quite a bit, other days…not so much. Nothing unusual there. My question is on charging frequency. I have been charging my light here and there as I get a chance to keep it topped off. I just want to make sure it is ready if I ever find myself in a situation where I need it.

However, I have heard some say that is perfectly fine, where as others say that it is better to let the light discharge more before charging. Am I killing the battery life of my light by charging it daily? Should I be letting it run longer between charging sessions? I just hate the idea of having my light with me at 50% charge when a situation arises where I may need to use it quite a bit.

What do others do when it comes to charging habits? Personally, I like to keep my phone and lights charged up because…you just never know. I was visiting my retired folks one weekend when a storm knocked out the power. Of the three cheapo flashlights they had in the house, only one had batteries with any juice and it was on its last leg. Luckily, I had my light and a couple more in the car. Nothing annoys me like that does. Why bother having something if you are not going to make sure it works when you need it most?

Seems to me you answered your own question. Sacrifice a bit of longevity for continual readiness.

I prefer to go with lights where the battery is replaceable. Cells die at some point.

Another thing I like about the T1. Having a backup battery ready to go can be a life saver. I was thinking perhaps a 1500 mah battery instead.
