Hello I’m new, hope you can solve my doubt, I wonder if a cheap driver withouth any 7135 chips (just 2 resistors, one 3 pin chip and a capacitor) which delivers a current of 1.3 Amps produces less heat than a Good 4x7135 driver which delivers 1.4 Amps?
Those drivers are unpredictable at best, as an LED with lower Vf will draw more current at the same cell voltage than an LED with a higher voltage. And current will decrease as the cell’s voltage decreases, too.
Stick with 7135s unless you go for an even better driver.
Hello, thanks Lightbringer, I will go for the 7135s, I need your opinion about another doubt, is there a better efficient led from 2.1A - 2.8A than the xhp50.2 3v and the LH351D?
It’s just Im new in this, and I can’t spend much money for the moment, but I really want to try it, I bought a cheap C8 and I want to modify it with a nice Led and a good driver pillar.
.
I know that an original Convoy C8 can weights 20 or 25 grams more than cheaps C8, and if a Convoy C8 gets hot with 2.8 Amps, I think 2.1amps will be the max for a cheap C8?.
My first goal is to achieve 1000 lumens with the lower investment, if an LH351D with 2.1amps makes around 950 lumens ( I saw the test from Texas Ace ) a xhp50.2 should surpass the 1000 lumens at the same amps.
.
Another reason I want to choose drivers with 6x7135 instead 8x7135 is that my batteries will also be cheap 18650 2500mah from a new Adata powerbank p20000d( It’s my only way to get these batteries).
But there is a problem Kaidomain only have xhp50.2 3v 6500k and is too much blue for me, there is another place where can I get one?
.
Hope your answer. maybe later after my first tries I will get nicer flashlights as you in this forum have.
The LH351D tested by Texas Axe is a 70CRI variant, the high CRI variants you can find in kaidomain or other flashalcolic sites won’t get the same efficiency, but later you will want one with high CRI anyway, so you may just sacrifice some lumens and get it now.
