Let’s say I have no real use for a thrower but want one anyways so it needs to be cheap. I already have an XM-L light similar to a C8 that does 24,000 lux at three feet so I’d like a significant improvement over that. Must run on 18650 batteries. I prefer one battery but two is ok also. I’ve been looking at the Smallsun ZY-T13 on sale for 18 bucks at Wallbuys, but there is something about the ZY-T08 I like but can’t put my finger on it. I’d like to stick with an XM-L also. So, what’s your best recommendation?
M3S + L2T
I built xp-g2 pill @1.7A. This thing is nice thrower with xp-g2. Additionally you still have original pill with xm-l one or three mode.
It’s nice combo.

I have this dx-light , it is $19.20 now, and it is just great, reflector diameter=47 mm (head=55). It's even better with a driver upgrade to 2.8A (Nanjg 105C). Lux at 1m is 40k then.
For the performance offered, its damned cheap. I could buy almost six of them with the $560 that I piss away every month for health insurance .The definition of cheap is a mater of perspective I suppose
For the money an A60 is likely the best choice formthrow vs $. I’ve tested several of them in the 65k-72k range. Though, like pointed out above it does have a small spot and little spill. A HD2010, for a little more money can give you good spill, a fat spot and appx 50-55K throw. A60’s can be had for under $20 and HD2010 in the $30-35 range.
I have a ZY-T08 from Manafont and FastTech and they both draw ~3.0A. No need to modify the ones I got. They throw great and I like the form factor. Can’t beat it for the price. I would be shocked it you get a 3A one and you’re disappointed.
The HD2010 looks great, but it seems everybody and their brother has one. Still on the list though. I’m looking for an XM-L emitter so I get a little spill so the Jacob A60 is out.
