I am in Radiation Oncology and there are complicated treatment plans that are generated by planning system with iterative optimizations. All you need to tell the planning system is how you want the dose to distribute.
Would image this has the same thing. You give the “planning system” the dimensions of your part, the system decide what blades it will use and in which order. There must be some objectives (shortest overall time, least cutting time to minimize wearing) and optimization process in here.

No the blades depends on the material. You have to specify how many cuts for the finishing. The part where you said you just need to specify dimensions is correct.

I’m taking up a course on Digital Precision Engineering. I’M currently learning EDM and just finished learning wire cut. CNC I will start next year and hopefully I’ll get to show you guys the stuff that happens while using the machine
