Are there any comparable lights to the Discontinued Tiger Mini?

It checks all the boxes for me. 21700 batteries, no battery pack. Good output, 45,000 lumens , 314Kcd and Anduril where I could set the thermal limit to 70C

That combination is very difficult to find with all these battery packs and step Downs. I don’t really remember too much about the light when it came out. Not sure why they discontinued it either.

If there is a comparable light it needs to have those three major components.

1.Anduril or a similar driver where I can set the thermal limit.

2. A very balanced combination of flood and throw.Minimum 35K Lumens and 250Kcd.

3. 21700 Batteries. NO proprietary battery pack. 46950 would work also even though they’re hard to access ,at least good ones. That would absolutely be secondary to 21700.

It’s hard to find exactly what I want but I’m not giving up yet. That light would have been great.

Any help would be appreciated.

I also sent an email to Lumintop and asked them why it was discontinued and if they have or are they going to Manufacturer a light with the similar output,the same 21700 battery configuration and have the ability to program thermal configuration( Anduril).

I have been diving in to DDH lights lately. They have a bunch of options for building sodacan lights including 46950 /46120 carrier and 3x21700 carrier. There is even a 3v 10A buck/120A FET Anduril (1 I think) driver for it (but requires getting the USB-C cap for the battery carrier). The newer XBY drivers for them are even more powerful (but not Anduril), up to 30A buck and I think 300A FET, with built-in USB-C charging.

There are several good host options like the D8 for building monster throwers, the D6 for building slightly smaller monster throwers, D7 for multi-7070 lights, and the newer F8A for multi-emitter monster flood lights with active cooling fans.

That said, I found the buying process frustrating and I had to use Superbuy as an agent to buy all this DDH stuff from Taobao. The DDH-F8A at least I got prebuilt. There is a very similar light with active cooling called the Starfish X85, which uses the same XBY buck/FET driver, that seems easier to get than the DDH-F8A (more Taobao sellers), and also comes prebuilt, though I went with the DDH-F8A instead.

I also would recommend the Convoy 3x21C with LHP531s in it as a really great option, especially with the Convoy 25A buck/54A FET driver in it. It can still get you in the 20K-30K lumen range, a lot of options for CCTs of the LHP531s, and it is pretty easy to acquire, and also cheap. No Anduril, but the newer Convoy e-switch drivers are slowly getting better. While it is overshadowed by my DDH-F8A, I still really like this one, especially because it is smaller despite being so powerful, and really easy to mod and toy with.

I don’t have a Mateminco MT009, but this looks like another good one to consider as well, in that unlike the Lumintop drivers, it actually has a buck driver, and active cooling, and is easy to purchase, and modestly priced. If I didn’t build a DDH-F8A, I probably would have gotten one.

They got back to me. They didn’t tell me why they discontinued that light and they have no replacement planned in the near future.

I guess no one found one either. I researched for over 2 hours before I decided to put this thread up.

Lumintop has no answers, they try to recommend me a light that doesn’t even come close to my must have specs. Wrong battery configuration , doesn’t have the output and relies on must use USB With a 46950.

Those batteries are hard to source. I found out the hard way after I bought my Mach. They don’t even sell the batteries on their website. Why would I want to buy another one of their lights with that battery when you can’t buy replacements? Lol! And the ones you can get from AliExpress aren’t as good quality cuz I bought one of them.

I’m always willing to have the output be a little lower and the throw be a little lower but I will not settle for proprietary battery packs and USB charging only.

Which reminds me.

I wonder if they’ll ever have a 46950 battery charger? I would think the 46950 would have to be a lot more popular and the battery much more accessible in order to manufacture that type of charger.

That’s not the reason. They got back to me. When I get off the trail I’ll send another message I’m getting old I don’t remember the exact details. The x75, the TN42, the wt90, x65 Mini ECT., ETC they don’t fit in your pants. Those and others are much bigger than the light in question. There are really no big type lights that were around 15 years ago. Medium size ones for that matter like the K40.

I’m going to try and break that down and make sense of their three reasons.

1.Production Planning. Not really clear on that other than the fact that they’re planning and indeed did eliminate production. And they’re planning production for other lights not close to the comparability of this.

2.Component Availability
Don’t these lights basically have the same components, Parts, types of metal ,drivers Etc. It doesn’t have any rare or precious metal in it. I don’t know if this is a great analogy but say there’s certain BMW someone loved and they stopped making it. Because of component availability. That would not make sense.

Another thing I just remembered. LED It’s possible one may not be available , however there’s so many great ones they can replace it with another one.

3.Product Updates.
In my mind this light is a bit unique with the three elements that I like about it.

Anduril.. programmable and ability to set the thermal limit., 21700 battery where we do not have to depend on proprietary battery packs when we’re dependent on the manufacturer.
Has Great balance of flood and throw. 45,000 lumens and 312 kcd.

They certainly did not update it, they eliminated it. Updating something does not always mean improvement. In fact in some people’s minds it is regression. They could have put a 46950 battery in it not to my liking but I would still by the light.
They didn’t update it with any comparable light.

That’s all I can think of. Yes I analyzed it enough.

Not one person on this site has come up with a suggestion of a comparable light to the Tiger Mini and I understand cuz it’s not an easy task.

I’m not shocked that they stop selling the light but nowhere in their message to me do they say it was because of sales. Lack of sales.

Did you read their reasons? So you’re just reading into it that’s because of lack of sales? All I said when you mention that is that’s not what they said so I showed you the email? Really nothing else to talk about.

One thing I’ve learned about Lumintop, and why I don’t review very many compared to like Fenix, Fireflies, Acebeam, Olight, etc is availability and interest. A complicated, expensive to make light like the Tiger/Tiger Mini are dependent on people wanting them…a lot of buyers. That last bit is important because if something’s not selling well, they’ll stop making it. You need volume to make money on flashlights sonce factories only make batches in volume with a minimum quantity. Corporate bean counters have complicated math formulas for figuring that out, but its common sense. Nobody umintop is especially bad because they introduce then de-introduce (cancel) lights more frequently than others do (do some research…the GT110 was very short lived, as was the Tiger and Tiger Mini, the Mach 3x21700 was also axed as soon as the Mach 46940 was launched).

I saw the Lumintop Tiger mini on Ebay for $500! It was on there for several weeks he said. It didn’t sell. I wonder why? It listed for $429 before it was discontinued. So now he May lower to $400. I still don’t think it’s worth it.

And there were sale prices lower than $429. I think Neil’s Gadget was $369

The Tiger Mini probably won’t make 45k Lumens, maybe more like 35K? I’ve never seen one reviewed though, but for the asking price it’s way too expensive. You’re honestly better off with a Convoy 3x21 with lhp351 leds that has a proper regulated+fet driver that guarantees makes 25k-30k lumens and will throw just shy of 800m (or more) all for around $110 US (vs $300+). You can also pick up a Astrolux MF07 or MF09 which are great flashlights too, but won’t crack 23k lumens.

Simon told me the step down is 55C/131F. That is too low temp. For step down when I am use to at.least 70C with Anduril and drivers with the ability to disable step-downs. I looked at that samelight/ similar light you suggested with sft-42r. 3x21c. That’s when Simon gave me the step down numbers I believe it’s for all his lights. Thanks

I recently experienced that quick discontinuation by Lumintop, when I came across a second hand (partially broken) Lumintop Tiger I purchased (posted about it in this topic). I wasn’t even aware that this Lumintop model (including the Mini) existed; I totally missed that!

The same applies for the (regular) Tiger too!

I’ve tried finding more information/reviews about it, but besides a couple of threads on Reddit (with almost no usefull information) and a 2 or 3 basic unboxing/beamshot videos on Youtube, it is pretty much as if this light has never existed or actually has been released/launched, other than some review samples maybe!

Fortunately I was able to buy the Tiger really cheap and with about € 9,- in parts (new XHP70.3 HI and new battery springs), I should have a working Lumintop Tiger for around € 45,-, which I would consider a good deal and a waaaay better price than the (too high) original price that this light was selling for.

At the moment I can’t recall the most honest manufacturers regarding the specs. I think Fenix, might be one of them.

Anyway they all exaggerate their specs. It’s a lumen race with deception mixed in. Its all about money. Selling the most, the quickest with the uninformed being the best customer!
