I had to replace the switch in my Convoy L4. I used this one: http://intl-outdoor.com/forward-clickytactical-switch-module-17mm-pcb-p-461.html
But sometimes, when I click the switch, there is some misbehavior:
It works when the switch is halfpressed, but when I release the switch the light turns off.
Then I have to click it several times (sometimes nothing happens) until it works normally.
Hard to discribe, but I hope you can understand me.
It’s a forward clicky. That’s how it works. Half press the switch for momentary “on” or to change modes. When you find the mode you want, press until it clicks. If you wan to change modes, you have to click “off” and half press again until the mode is selected. Click to save.
With reverse clicky, you click “on”, and then half press to change modes. The majority of people prefer reverse clicky’s. It’s a matter of preference.
I have faced similar issues with a few reverse clicky switches, The plastic piece that rotates with every click needs to be replaced, better yet get a new switch instead.
That’s a good point. My initial reaction was bad switch, but tailcap spacing is important. I’ve had plenty of problems with over-compressing switches inside tailcaps. Typically trimming the nub inside the tailcap boot or adding washers inside the tailcap is the solution.
