DOA again?

My Pp payment got returned because I left the cn off the email addy. Can I still get one?

You are right about that. I swapped driver for manafonts a8. Getting that driver out in one piece isn’t that easy. It’s mounted with adhesive to that head, so you need some sharp/thin knife and patience to get it out without breaking it. I would not suggest trying to to get out if you don’t have spare driver.

Thanks. It is working fine so it can stay stock. Cheers.

mine is not DOA… it works fine to me… just wondering if this BLF is brighter than the regular A8.
unfortunately i don’t have another A8 to compare with, so i wouldn’t know the difference between this BLF edition and regular A8, other than BLF writing on it 8)

I'd like to say mine is great, I measured 2.8 amps through the tailcap which is perfect, and the modes are great. Thanks for another great light!

Just measured PWM and it measured a very high 2khz. :D

PP sent again. thanks Rey

I got my A8 and it's an amazingly well built light. I love it! The only defect on it is the "BLF Edition" lettering that is laser etched onto it. Mine is distorted and crooked. Pictures others have posted show that theirs are perfect. Anyone else have this small issue on theirs?

Mine is the same way, but it works great.

Mine is crooked. I also have a small chip out on the body, but it was pre ano, so no biggie.

now that you guys mentioned it… i realized my lettering is also crooked… lousy :Sp

Got mine today. Weird issue i can’t pin down

Threw a Keeppower 26650 in it - light goes on what i assume is high and switch does not work.

With a Keeppower Panasonic 18650 - nothing, no light no switch.

With an unprotected Sanyo 18650 - nothing, no light no switch.

Any ideas?

Check the retaining ring of the switch for either being too loose or too tight.

IIRC, those keeppower cells are pretty long. Id say to check the switch assembly first and make sure everything is tight. Remove the tailcap and use a paperclip or piece of wire to connect the battery negative to the exposed metal of the battery tube. This will light the light and confirm that the issue is the switch.

Short and sweet you beat me to it.

OK so i took the retaining ring off, examined the switch, looks OK but still does not work.

The paperclip thing didn’t work either, no light.

I can see that the keeppower cell is bottoming out with the body of the tailcap, which is why the light is coming on

So i guess i have a bad switch?

Mine finally came today - very nice but as others have noted, BLF Edition is slightly crooked. Overall a very handsome light and I really dig the gunmetal color. Keeppower protected 26650 is too long - as you mentioned the light comes on and switch does not work. Speaking from experience with my last A8, you would need to remove the brass cap covering the spring from the switch in order to use protected cells. With unprotected King Kongs, all is well. I am very impressed with this light, especially the mode spacing. High rocks, ultra low is perfect for indoor night use.

If bypassing the switch with the paperclip still doesn’t produce light then the problem is not the tail cap or switch. Remove the bezel and reflector and see if it lights just to rule out the reflector grounding out the LED. My guess next is the driver ground. Remove the white nylon disk and check that the driver is secure and grounded to the pill. Pressure from the large battery could create contact for power where the smaller cells won’t.

From what I can tell, the driver is secure.

You know whats funny - if i bang the bottom of the light against my hand it lights up then slowly dims away.

Rey already contact me about getting a new one, so ill probably just go that route, unless there is any other ideas.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.
