How would adding batteries make it stop working? Are they breaking a circuit? Causing a short? If two batteries were dead, would the other two still make the light work? Could you make a connection on the two spring pairs, put the two batteries in and it would also fail? Two good batteries, two low/dead ones?

Two of your working batteries and two flat top batteries…just to see if the battery body is affecting anything and assuming it wouldn’t connect to the flat tops?? Cover the other two button top batteries that you add to make it not work and see if its the battery body or the actual power they supply? That would be an interesting test and easy to try…

Is it a driver problem? Something about a chip or resistor that cuts it off for some reason? Voltage overload? some chip disregarding the additional power? Misreading the power? misregulation?

Is it mechanical or an electronic failure? Be interesting to know…

Hate to ask, but have you tried two other batteries from your collection with the two that work? Any four of them in a pair work or just a certain pair? Can you put them in any two slots or is it a certain configuration of placement/same slots? Assuming you tested any of the four in another flashlight?

When adding the other two batteries…are they causing some connection to be lost…like “pushing up or down” the head or tail…breaking the connection? Causing a spring to move ever so slightly breaking connection? Additional batteries causing some deformity in the tube or springs that cuts the power?

Like if it was any of the batteries, but in the same two working slots…something physically wrong with the other two slots?
Certainly odd…flumoxed!

Celsius is a much batter temperature scale, because its linear to Kelvin.

These temps are Fahrenheit. I do kinda live in a sauna though, my wife has no thyroid and therefore cannot regulate her body temperature. I’d like the house to be around 68 degrees but we keep it closer to 72. Temperatures higher than that are attributable to the fact that these measurements were taken in a room with a lot of windows. If anything the flashlight started off at a lower temp since it was sunlight that made the surface warmer.

I’m happy to re-run the test with any suggested methods. I plan on doing it again with similar conditions while using the included cells. Temperatures will definitely be off by a few degrees but hopefully the overall results will be useful.

EDIT - And I’m happy to do the F to C conversion in my results. Sorry for the confusion.

I bet these temps will be much higher and climb much quicker with good unprotected cells. My light would burn your skin if left on for 3 minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever run turbo more than a minute (with fresh unprotected cells).

Nope, I don’t think I have a 6500 K light to compare with. I don’t actually know the colour temperature of my X60, but I know that it’s CW. Here’s a quick photo of three of my lights, just using my phone camera:

Your picture might be deceiving but that Acebeam looks much warmer than my 4000k XHP70.2 version or much warmer than all of my 4000k flashlights. The X60 CW looks more like 4000k to 4500k. But again the camera might be playing tricks.

Such pics are only really useful for comparing tints relative to other lights in photo. In other words, can’t really draw any accurate comaprison between Acebeam in pic and any of your lights. Settings on cameras can make tints appear radically different than real life, not to mention monitor calibration at your end. But it appears that the MT09R is the coldest of the bunch shown, and that’s probably an accurate assesment.

Exactly. That’s all I was trying to accomplish. The X60 is CW, but I don’t know the colour temperature. Given that, plus the appearance of the 5000 K EC50 II, I’d guess that my MT09R is CW, not NW as I ordered, and as confirmed by HaikeLite’s shipping confirmation email.

Agree with your assessment of the 35 Hi looking cool white. I also ordered a MT09R 35 Hi NW but the color is very cool compared to my MT07 NW. I was going to address this with Terry when we finally arrange shipping of my light for him to review. Awaiting his reply when he gets corrected parts in.

Yikes just saw 180 degrees after 5 minutes. It did appear to ramp down, I was able to put it in turbo at 5 min. I assume it would be even hotter if I kept it in turbo.

Edit - put it back in turbo mode and left it for a few minutes, it hit a max of 199.7 degrees before starting to fall, I assume due to either thermal regulation or the batteries being depleted. This light definitely gets hot enough to cause burns. Be careful everyone.

On 2/25 tracking still showed “The Item is at the shippers warehouse.” On the outside chance this might mean package was at the carrier’s warehouse, I googled,

“The Item is at the shippers warehouse postnl”

and came up with following:

It means the item is still at the shipper’s warehouse, it has not been received by PostNL yet. When the tracking information changes to “the item is processed at the PostNL sorting center”, means the package is on the way now.”

Given the early reported problems with the 35HI (which I had ordered) and the failure of package to be sent in promised time frame, I decided I no longer wanted light and wanted a refund. I sent messages to Dale/Haikelite via 2 different email addresses, BLF messaging, and paypal messaging. I also PM’d Terry after a couple of days with no response from Dale. I was clear to specify that package had yet to be delivered to carrier, and that it would be best if it was intercepted asap as I would feel no responsibility to cover return shipping to China should it ship.

Please recall that in post #764 (Closed Official Haikelite MT09R *UPDATE Now including TA's Pricing for Emitter Upgrades* Closed - #744 by NOT_Haikelite_USA_Of) “Haikelite USA Official” stated:

“This was a factory direct buy… If you have any issues you may ask for a full refund if you are not satisfied with your purchase.”

In other words, I am in no way being unreasonable in expecting a refund. The fact we were told package would ship before CNY and the fact mine was still sitting in shipper’s warehouse nearly a month after end of GB - I think anyone would agree this is a reasonable “issue.”

I’ve yet to hear any response from Dale/Haikelite. Tracking still shows package is at warehouse. I’ve escalated case at paypal. Regardless of whether my communiques to Dale/Haikelite have been ignored or simply remain unread, I have reason to fear package will not be intercepted. As of now a prompt refund from Haikelite would make this whole GB experience simply “a disappointment” - no real harm done to anyone. If I have to wait for paypal to adjudicate in my favor and/or if package gets sent and I have to wait for it to return back to China until I get a refund (potentially months), I will feel far different.

I am in the same situation as you,I didn’t get any response to my countless attempts to contact Haikelite. I haven’t taken the PayPal route yet, but sadly it seems more and more like it’s my only option.

You may have trashed your batteries. Sony only rates the VTC6s for use up to 140° F (60° C). Even if they didn't vent (which can be harmful to a light), their capacity/charge cycle life could have been diminished.

You can always put on welders gloves or use silicone oven mitts to grab or hold onto the light, but it looks like the proper use/handling guidelines for typical Li-ion batteries is the real limiting factor for temperatures in this light, since it obviously does not meet its published thermal regulation spec of 55° C.

In post #1096 of this thread I reported on testing my XHP35 HI for 20 minutes on HIGH (not TURBO), which brought it to as close to the upper battery temperature limit as I'd care to go.

Guys please remember that you have not gotten a reply from Haikelite China because the entire country has been basically shut down for the last 2 weeks.

It is not poor customer service and it is not anyone trying to dodge your issues or questions. This is a sacred and major holiday for the Chinese and regardless if we like it or not that country basically shuts down during this holiday. It is a long celebration 23 days long all together.

Most are returning to work and factories re-opening on 3-2 (I may have that wrong by one day because of the time difference but 1 day is not going to make any real difference)

Now think about this for a minute. regardless of which day, if it is today, yesterday or tomorrow, when Dale gets back to his factory and turns on his computer. He is going to be bombarded with email. Normal everyday email and if his is like mine that is about 200 a day plus all of the email from all of these issues. It may take a day or two just to sort through the email.

Then he will need to evaluate each issue and decide the best reasonable action to take for that issue.

None of your messages to him are being ignored, he simply has not got them yet.

I have to wait as well, I need parts and I have 2 other shipments due. I will get them when things get caught up and I know I am not being ignored and neither are any of you. I have spoke to him as recent as yesterday. I can tell him all about everything I have already emailed about but it will still have to wait until they start back up. And before any asks I do report to him several times a week so he knows what is going on and how much work there is to be done but none of that will make time move any faster.

Here is the U.S. we would be the same way, granted none of our holidays last that long but if we were off for Christmas or New Years we would not be going through email. WE would be at home with our families. The only difference is that this holiday lasts a good deal longer.

Everything will be addressed just give him enough time to sort through over 2 weeks of email and put together a plan of action, not to mention also run a major factory, keep things moving for all of the dealers, look into shipping issues through dozens of different shipping companies going to dozens of different countries.

It all seems simple for an individual but this i not just for an individual.

Just please keep all of this in mind.

No one ignored anything. They have not been working.. Nothing more..

I would have asked before terry, now I will complain some further. I realy dont think that opening a paypal case is the right way to answer shipping delays and not answered emails. If you buy in china, you have to wait, sometimes a long time, till something arrives.
And you have to know more about the country before you judge about these holidays or the not responding Dale. Its a realy long term holiday, buts mostly the only holiday they have over the year.

Paypal gives you 6 months buyers protection, there is enough time, not to open hurried a case. After you have opened a case, you have only one month do find a solution. If a case is closed, you do not have the chance to open a new case. So please be carefull and patient with paypal cases.

I can agree it seems weird some of you still has the “item is at shippers warehouse” I thought all packages was sent more or less out on the same day before the holidays there started ? It must have been some really bad luck for some packages then that didnt actually go out before holidays kicked in, i know it sucks but dont do the paypal dispute yet there is no hurry in that as paypal has 6months for the buyer, give Dale a chance too see whats up with your actual packages and then decide what he offers as a solution. Like Terry said holidays there is crazy but they honor their holidays and everything is shutdown for over 2-3weeks thats how it is over there.

I only have experience with celebrating New Years in the US, but I now have this image in my head - much like the revelers here counting down New Years Eve, “ten! Nine! Eight!..” etc., I now have this image of a billion Chinese factory workers sitting around and counting down their New Years celebration -

“Ten million nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety NINE! Ten million nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety EIGHT!!…”

Next time someone talks about the poor working conditions of some Chinese factories, I can respond with “yes, but apparently, they get about six weeks vacation to celebrate New Year’s…”

My cousin who went to work a few years in China told me the same thing. Many Chinese work far, far away from home. CNY is the only time in the year they get to go back to see and spend time with their family/friends/relatives. So guys, please have some understanding and don’t do the paypal thing just yet.

The MT09R with 4 genuine VTC6 batteries really is dirt cheap already and I can’t imagine they make anything more than hair thin profit on the GB prices. So have some patience. For me, I didn’t even get tracking at all but my lights just appeared and I am very pleased with their performance.
