I’m not sure it’s truly a P60 host. it looks like it on the outside, but in the 4th picture there isn’t really a place for the module in the battery tube like usual, unless the P60 module just floats in the head? :~
And it would have to be very good quality to be worth it. A Solarforce host is only about $13 shipped, and a cheap wf502b is only about $5
Well, I could be wrong again, but I believe, in that photo, the body has the shelf where the outer spring rides. The P60 pill is in the head, but you can see it's not tight in, by the angle the reflector is laying inside it and it appears the edge of the outer spring shows too. I would love to see more photos, but you know how that goes. I will ask, so we know for sure.
I think it will be heavier and hopefully better quality than a 502B and a whole Solarforce with XM-L2 goes a bit more than $10. Remember, this is a complete light.
I think all P60 hosts need that. None of them have good thermal transfer properties. I think that is one big reason why they were never as big for modders as they could have been. The size is nice, but the pill gets too hot too fast unless it's modded. I plan to mod some myself for MT-G2 or XHP50. 2x18350.
Yeah I always wrap my P60’s.
What I mean is, it might be harder to wrap it than usual, because after you wrap it you have to push it into the head headfirst and then screw it on to the battery tube. Normally, you push it into the body tailfirst which allows a very tight fit with the tinfoil and decent thermal path.
I’m a skeptic by nature, so maybe I’m just being too critical. More pictures would definitely be nice.
Sure looks like a p60 host to me. This looks like another redesign of the 504B.
Beyond the observations made by Old-Lumens, the bevel cut in the top inner edge of the body is a sure sign that it is a P60 light, if engineered properly the reflector of the drop-in should rest on this bevel.
About 50% of my p60 lights allow the reflector to make contact with the body and therefore handle heat transfer much better.
Just for people who are doubting to jump the boat.
The great thing about P60 lights is that you can make a few different dropins, with different tints, different emitters, different modes, and you can even change them on the go, while hiking etc.. Saving space and money.
If you go backpacking you can have 1 dropin with a Warm White.. and a CW as back up. A hi-cri when necessary... plus an IR or UV as an extra luxury.
Yes, it isn`t the best for hot rodding.. but you can do so many things with them.. especially the ones from Solarforce etc, that are legoable (interchangeable parts).. you can change the head, body, tailcap, without having to solder or mod anything.
Sorry, Im not in.. but just wanted to share my feeling for P60 lights..
Don’t want to spoil things, but solarforce has a special offer: http://www.solarforceflashlight-sales.com/product_detail.php?id=20&s=1&t=FB
They are anodized in a titanium blue-grey, that looks imho fantastic! I ordered three of them and am very pleased. They don’t have printing on them, so you can engrave, what ever you want. The only thing i changed is i replaced the “tactical (yuck!)” bezel with a flat stainless steel one. These lights are my favorite so far and the thermal gap to bridge with aluminum foil is the tiniest i have seen so far on P60 hosts. Special remark: The tailcap has a protruding clickie, so no tailstand possible!
