Cold season came early for me, what's your phlegm phatal?

Starts with a raging sore throat- day 1
Next up is the overtime slime production- day 2
Descending into the chest shredding cough - day 3

I’m hoping that due to the rapid progression it will end just as quickly, I hate sinus rinses. GACK

Get well soon buddy. Nothing gets you down more than being crook.

I am suffering in the exact same way, except mine started on day .5 with a sore throat and my voice dropping a octave. I am on day 4/5 now, and I almost feel human again.

Whenever I get the first tinges of a chest funk…I suck down 2x times the dose of mucinex (or it’s cheaper generic, for 2x-3x days) while power hammering 3K mg of Vitamin C (ester C [rose hips?]) not only does it kick the stuff out before it gets a chance to set in…but power blasting it with vitamin C helps keep it from grabbing hold

I HAAAAAAATE getting chest infections…once it settles in…takes me 2+ months to get the funk out

For sinus blarg…I use the NeilMed Sinugator wash out the boogies before they get all infected and make my head feel like its in a vice while someone is inflating a basketball behind my eyes.

Sinus rinse…bah…sinus “hose the sucker out”

The sick people are going to hate me for this, but I used to get colds & flu all the time just like everybody else but for some reason I cannot explain, it all stopped about 6 years ago. Haven't had flu or a cold or sniffles or a sore throat not once since then, and how/why is a complete mystery.

I still get my migraines every few days (yes, really), so you guys are still better off with your runny noses. I'd gladly trade if anybody's up for it.

I’m in the pits of misery too, but in the sore throat stage…

+1. I got the flu once when I was in my early 20’s. I never get it any more. I have been directly exposed to it many times, but I do not get it. Colds? Well, colds are something I never get either. Don’t believe in 'em. I don’t get viral infections. I used to get bacterial sinus infections, but it’s been a long time. I use saline spray and flush out the sinuses if it feels like I am getting an infection. I also am a clean freak. Touching anything in any public place is asking for illness. People just don’t worry about that stuff, but it’s the biggest reason for the spread of illness worldwide.

Hope you get better soon.

here’s a non-big pharma suggestion

I treat it with a 6-pack at the sore throat stage.

I do the same thing. Choking down 1000mg Vitamin C horse pills twice a day, two oranges a day minimum, orange juice with every meal, maximum strength Mucinex DM, ECHINACEA (best kept secret when fighting a cold), chamomile tea and some leftover anti-biotics (from previous aliments)… BAM!!!

Day 1: Slight sore throat
Day 2: Yup, definitely a sore throat (Warp 9, Number 1)
Day 3: Whole face feels like it may fall off at any moment. Better increase everything (Maximum warp)
Day 4: Throat is much better, but the nose leaks like the Titanic
Day 5: Coughing so hard people think I’ve smoked since I was 6
Day 6: (Today) 100% normal

I get a cold every September no matter what. I think I have it down to a science now.

I'm 62 and almost never get sick. I know the shit's going to hit the fan one of these days and I'll probably end up dying... I'm glad I have such a positive outlook on life...lol!

glenn, keep standing behind the fan…

Thanks buddy. I'd hate to think what would happen if I were to stand in the front :)

I just figure I’m power lifting my immune system. Like any other part it needs a workout. Some years I get a cold, some not. Got a flu shot last year but came back from Cozumel with a head cold anyway. Airplanes suck for bad air. I’ve had worse and was curium how everyone else faired.

Welcome to my world. I fly medical patients on a daily basis. Needless to say, perfectly healthy people don’t get transferred from one hospital to another. :weary:

Simple explanation… the cold/flu cooties are getting their ass kicked by your syphilis cooties…

I can’t imagine a more potent vector for the spread of communicable disease than air travel. At least in terms of maximizing the number of exposures. Fluid transfer is more certain but not as easily done to as many. If a really nasty bug comes along I could see it playing havoc with air travel. I certainly wouldn’t go near any form of public transit if a strain as potent as the 1918 influenza surfaced again.

So, you’ve never had to sit in a Texas drivers license bureau waiting area…

Nightmarish scene you just painted!

I'm about to get on a plane and I read this? Thanks.
